BLAST Rising with €30,000 prize pool announced

BLAST and Fantasyexpo have announced a new tournament for up-and-coming teams called BLAST Rising, which will be held in May and feature a €30,000 prize pool ($32,300).

Produced by Polish agency Fantasyexpo and broadcast on the BLASTtv Twitch channel, BLAST Rising will run over the course of three weeks, from May 4-22, with each week featuring four play days.

The tournament will house 16 European teams from the lower echelons of the rankings, with the participants — all of whom will be determined by direct invites — set to be announced on April 28.

"At BLAST we love the elite and allow everyone to be a part of Premier through the Qualifier Series and the Race to the Global Final, but have created BLAST Rising to support teams and players at all stages of their careers," Nicolas Estrup, Director of Product and Experience for BLAST, said in a statement.

"By giving teams and players more opportunity and exposure in the way only BLAST can, we want BLAST Rising to be a platform that drives forward their personal and team growth."

The draw for the group stage will follow on April 30. The 16 teams will be distributed into four round-robin best-of-one groups, in which each team will play each other twice, with the top-two sides advancing to the single-elimination playoff bracket.

In the group stage, each day from Monday-Thursday will see one set of matches played in each group over the first two weeks before the tournament concludes with the playoffs from May 18-22.

You would rather have a "worst" team playing because they have more international exposure than others? If u think that way, MIBR should be invited to all T1 tournament eventhough they are not good enouth.

People clearly didnt read and instead typed some bs, look guys: "The tournament will house 16 European teams from the lower echelons of the rankings" 32.000$ is a lot of money for the smaller teams. Obviously Fnatic, Astralis and NaVi wont attend.

Invite Saw, they definitly are worth the invite as they won ESEA Open and are directly on the ESEA Advanced... They are the 2nd best Iberian team with Movistar Riders being 1st (well Saw won against them in January with only one week worth of training, and soon they will battle on ESL Masters so it's really unclear if Saw can surpass MR in a bo3 but definitly a even match) Also, Blast has seen our passion about the game and the numbers we've been putting in streams.

i hope they invite sAw but that comment dont really makes sense, winning esea open is not that hard the only great team they won against was Heretics(with coach) because for me Giants is really far away from sAw level atm, and Esea advanced is like a 3rd division with 60 teams so... but i hope they invite sAw they have been working hard and having good results beating Winstrike 16-2 and Tricked 16-4 last weekend in DH qualifier almost qualifying for the closed
2020-04-24 13:43
1 reply
Sure, Esea Open is not hard but had good teams like Euronics that fell to the runner-up... And Esea Advanced is 2nd division, just below MDL. But you can pick the Flashpoint qualifier and DH qualifier to showcase what Saw can reach...
