Orgless disband, forfeit ESL One: Road to Rio spot

ESL has announced that Orgless have decided to not compete in the rest of ESL One: Road to Rio as the team has disbanded.

Orgless came together at the start of February, first competing in the Americas Minor qualifier and then securing a spot in the inaugural season of Flashpoint. Pujan "FNS" Mehta and co. managed a 5-6th finish in Flashpoint 1, outplacing the likes of Chaos, c0ntact, and Envy, and qualified for the Minor which ended up securing them a ESL One: Road to Rio - North America spot.

Orgless forfeit their spot in the ESL One: Road to Rio after playing two matches

The Canadian team is currently ranked 34th in the world and have been on an upward trajectory over the last two months, but has decided to call it quits and head separate directions. They played two matches in the ESL One: Road to Rio - North America, losing 2-1 to Cloud9 and 2-0 to Evil Geniuses, but those results will now be nulified as Orgless forfeited their spot in the event.

ESL revealed that there will be no replacement team coming in to assume Orgless' spot in ESL One: Road to Rio - North America, as the competition is already underway.

The future of the five players that previously represented Orgless is currently unknown:

Canada Pujan "FNS" Mehta
Canada Matthew "WARDELL" Yu
Canada Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik
United States Gage "Infinite" Green
United States Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker

It won't. There's a reason non-cs players don't try to play cs. It's too hard. There's a reason why middling or burnt out pro/semi-pro players chase Twitch views with new games. Because they want a quick buck and they're enticed by the opportunity of potentially getting over the hump and becoming a star in a new scene. Give me a Pro/semi-pro CS player other than Summit or Shroud that has ever(Summit was a shitty middling Main player elevated to semi-pro due to their being no NA csgo scene early on) left the game for a new one and become big shit in either the competitive scene or stream scene. Valorant won't even touch Fortnite levels of popularity. Absolutely won't kill off CSGO.. I won't say never. But Valorant would have to tweak literally every aspect of their game to have a chance of it ever having a viable, long-term competitive scene.

I never said it would touch fortnite levels of popularity. Also wtf has fortnite have to do with this?....... Also, once again, what Riot has done with LoL, they will do with Valorant. Im not saying it will kill CSGO, but it will hurt it a lot if Valve doesnt respond. If Valve does respond, they will co exist but valorant will be big anyway. If you say that it won't you have no idea what you're talking about. Sorry.

Riot is a dogshit company. Stole LoL from dota. Stole the idea of Fortnite from PUBG. Stole the idea of Valorant from CS. The problem with Riot games is that they take the most established, popular, competitive game scenes in the market at the time, copy the basic game strategy, and add a bunch of shit for 10 year olds so that they get a bunch of Twitch and advertisement money. They got lucky in the Asian market with LoL, pushing out the legendary dota wc3 custom game that started 10 years before Riot Games executives' could go outside without their parents permission. Fortnite hit with American children and made PUBG obsolete as it was the same exact game with cartoons and rocket launchers. Valorant is the cartoon and rocket launcher version of CSGO. They could tweak the physics and gameplay enough to make it viable in a year or so. But it will likely never come close to competing with CSGO.

Your argument was pretty shit before, but I had to lol at "Riot loves their games" you obviously havent played or followed League. On top of that while League is big, neither TFT nor Legends of Runeterra are particulary big, so I dont see how Valorant should automatically get huge just because its a Riot game. Also while Riot has a shitton of money, they cant afford to pull an Epic games and just pump unending amounts of it into Valorant as an Esport, if it wont stabilize and be at least remotely successful financially speaking, Riot will drop their support for the Esports side of the game or at least reduce it massively
2020-04-29 01:24
Valorant will only be big in the casual stream. The watching experience in Valorant in so bad

Valorant isn’t easy, I guess you haven’t played it. I was totally against it in the beginning, but honestly it’s better than cs. I haven’t touched cs since valorant came out. It’s a blast to play and requires a shit load of tactics and communication. I didn’t think it would hold a candle to csgo. I was very wrong. It’s going to be a huge game, one that really is going to challenge valve and csgo. I wouldn’t be surprised within a year 1/4 or more of the csgo teams exit and got valorant, honestly it will prob be more like 1/3rd when they get out off beta and set up leagues. Valve is gunna have to do some major upgrades tonthis game to keep it where it is. They need to put it on the new engine they have or it’s gunna slide quickly, watch.

You really think bet company ads are comparable to the likes of fucking Warner music or China money? Please. CS is hard to market because sponsors are reluctant to invest in a game that has people cheering for terrorists blowing up shit and killing cops/soldiers. It's unfortunate and I don't like it either but it's general knowledge by now, R6S for instance did it better by calling it a special ops simulator. They will get more money in time, especially given Riot's reputation as a professional eSports company.

Val can run at low graphic so people at 3rd world country like Veitnam/ Phillipines still can play it at a Cyber Cafe. If Valorant get really common, then they can commercialize it the same way as they commercialize LOL. You can't compare Dota lol vs Cs vol Dota has very few money spread only the top gets money. In Cs you have tier 5 teams that earn money. If vol want provide the same they have to invest a lot more money than in lol. Also such a franchise system will not work for shooters cuz it will not accepted in West world. Flashpoint is your first example for that. Nobody accepts it not even by the participants teams.
2020-04-29 09:14
3 replies
First of all, I don't think tier 5 team in CS earn a lot of money. and flashpoint is not comparable in this case. Riot games did commercialize their game much better, looked at the twitch Views of Worlds 2019 and TI9. View= ads/Sponsor = Money. And Riot games did plan to do the same shit onto Valorant as well. Make everyone play the game, and get profit from Views, instead of getting money from users only
2020-04-29 10:43

and still, you comparing is bullshit. Dota had big scene at the start of dota2 yes but LoL started their franchise before Dota2 was out. They had the timing advantage and they knew with an open system they would lose vs dota. In CS, Vol has no time advantage. Also, CS have with an open system a very healthy community and system. Vol is completely in disadvantage this time no matter what system they want. They have to beat CS that is on the top of all shooters cuz it lives by the people that play and love the game, not only by money. Why should a sponsor. that had to decide between two games, choose Vol instead of CS? ATM there is no fucking reason.

That is what I am saying, by providing free game. They will be ton of people playing Valorant especially in Asia, and a lot other 3rd world Countries, where a lot of them don't play CS Riot games already succeed in hyping the game up, what they need to do now is fix the game according to feedback, let everyone play it. Sponsors will automatically come in when you got more views. and I am not saying Val got any advantages but I am saying Riot games is better than Valve in commercializing their game.

Valve don't give a rats ass about funding csgo. It's like they don't care if the competitive scene in the game dies or prospers. Meanwhile TI probably going to have a 20m prize pool in the next few years

+1 i cant play dota, but i really like to watch dota competitive scene especially TI. I can say there is no region like NA, EU, Asia is dominant in dota scene, when csgo just by EU (major winner). and in dota many new comer can compete with big team.
2020-04-28 18:48
Yeah, and in that one moment of relevancy, Dota players make at minimum 3x what ANY csgo player could make in 5 years. Idk about you, but if I loved both games and had to choose one to go competitive in, I'd choose the one that is potentially going to land me the most money. Of course prize pool matters. What org or player is going to invest money and time in building a team to win a $1 prize pool? "Oh, you came in first place? You win 50 cents!" Wow! What a worthwhile investment for all parties! At the end of the day prize pools may not entirely determine how well off a competitive scene is, but it's definitely an indicator where the scene is at in its development. How many up and coming pros do you see from NA? Virtually none because no one sees the value in investing their time to get good just to sit on the FPL sidelines for 5 years while all the top teams recycle talent.
2020-04-28 18:50
TI has had 20M+ prize pool for 3 years now. Last year was 36M. But if you think that CSGO needs a TI like league, you don't know shit.
2020-04-28 18:33
4 replies
Yes because a 36m prize pool for a major in csgo would be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. All this thread has proven to me is how unwilling the csgo community is to embrace change.

but that's common knowledge, every time a change is made to the game people complain about how bad it is and that it ruined the game, that's the CS community in a nutshell. And then they wonder why Valve doesn't really listen to the community anymore.

and what? Valve could pay nothing out of it. Cuz it is their money... You cry about things that aren't normal and that Valve does by free will. They could also stop updating the game etc. If you have a clue about esports history look what Blizzard did with wc3. In 2009 it was with cs the biggest esports game in the world. Blizzard stopped patching, blizzard tried to push WoW instead and Blizzard never pays any € in esports at this time. Valve does a lot more that isn't even their duty.
2020-04-29 09:53
But Cs players get far more money from stickers(and emblems since Rio) than R6 players from skins
2020-04-28 19:24
1 reply
but that's only testament to how much people invest in CSGO skins and how much revenue the game generates through microtransactions and after all, they're just a percentage of the money users give Valve rather than Valve injecting money into the scene to promote and encourage it out of their own pockets, which is the topic here. They made a profit while cashing in on the names and reputation of the orgs and players participating, how noble of them to give them a cut.

I feel bad for FNS he has been trying so hard for so long and he keeps getting screwed. First by tarik in cloud9 then in Orgless* by players going to a different game... TL;DR Sad for 4D chess champion FNS. Edit: Yes FNS has been playing Valorant aswell but I doubt he actually tries to pursue a pro career in it unlike what some other players in his now previous players had stated on their twitters.

Yeah I know, but him calling someone the F word isn't even close to the only thing that's happened. He gets kicked from every team he plays on or they disband VERY quickly. He is obviously horrendous to work with.

For how "bad" North America is these players accomplished very little on the CS:GO side of things. It can't be a lack of skill for them all as I've watched some of Wardell's streams and he is a great awper. However, it tells me something about players who never accomplished what they wanted (while having the skill to do so) and being able to drop a game so easily (that is still alive and well) for a game that has a ton of hopes but has nothing set in stone. Makes no sense how someone can drop something they love so quickly unless they came to grips with never amounting to anything more in CS. Just my two cents.
