ENCE qualify for BLAST Premier Spring Showdown

After defeating Apeks in the semi-final of the Elisa Invitational, ENCE have secured a spot in the BLAST Premier Spring Europe Showdown.

In ENCE's debut tournament with Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen, who they signed in April and expanded to a six-man roster, the Finnish team was flawless, winning five maps straight to advance to the BLAST Premier Spring Europe Showdown.

Aleksi "allu" Jalli was the main contributor to their success, averaging a 1.41 rating and 1.50 impact across the five maps played against Dignitas, GODSENT, and Apeks. With this result, ENCE will be competing with the likes of Astralis and Vitality in the BLAST Showdown on May 31 - June 7.

allu stepped up individually after passing the leadership mantle to suNny

Ole "Marcelious" Kristian Langan's ace wrapped up Apeks' 3-0 start on the T-side of Nuke before allu picked up the AWP, immediately finding success. ENCE were back on track, 4-3, before another ace happened, this time by Kristian "akez" Kornbakk, and Apeks bounced back into the lead. The half continued in the same rythm, with ENCE ending it with a minimal advantage, 8-7.

With a 5-0 start on the T side (13-7), it seemed like Miikka "suNny" Kemppi and co. had things all wrapped up on Nuke, but Apeks didn't falter and after a B site retake, went on to chain six rounds on the defense. The score was equalized at 13-13 when a fast A site approach worked out for ENCE, ending the Norwegians' streak and seeing the Finns close out Nuke 16-13.

On Dust2, a 4-1 start for Apeks was swiftly turned around by ENCE, with Jamppi's quad kill round starting the Finnish team's comeback on the T side. They took the lead, 5-4, after an impressive round from their other young star, Jere "sergej" Salo, but were unable to end the half ahead as Apeks pulled ahead before switching to the T side (8-7).

Going aggressive in the early rounds of their CT side worked out perfectly for ENCE, who didn't give any breathing room to Apeks and ran up a 13-8 lead swiftly. Jani "Aerial" Jussila and Jamppi then resolved a 2v3, setting up ENCE for a perfect, 9-0 half, and a 2-0 series victory.

Or maybe Jamppi is just hyping them up a bit more? He seems like a guy with lots of positive energy. allu said in many behind the scenes video interviews that their voice comms were death silent and people just feeling down when they were struggling mid game or taking a beating.

ENCE double AWP is insane. They probably should just start play mp9 on suNny all the time to farm up money to have double AWP every possible round.

Good for them for winning, but let's be honest here, this lineup is completely out of balance and there is absolutely no way they will achieve any type of prolonged, consistent success with it. People don't just become top grade IGL's because they were put into the role, it's a personality thing, and if you're not the kind of a guy who can do it then you will never be able to do it, and stuff decided before the games will only get you so far against balanced teams with real IGL's. Kicking aleksib was really, really stupid. If they wanted suNny so bad, they should've kicked Aerial. As they are now, this team will never crack the top 10 in the world, let alone top 5.
