FaZe secure first place in Road to Rio Group B, mousesports out of playoffs running

FaZe have secured a berth in the ESL One: Road to Rio - Europe upper semi-finals after beating Copenhagen Flames for their sixth win in the group stage, while GODSENT put mousesports out of the running for playoffs.

Nikola "NiKo" Kovač and company have kept their winning streak in Road to Rio despite a closely-contested series against the Danish side, who managed to surprise FaZe with a dominant defense on the opening map, Inferno, but ended up losing the series after falling on Dust2 and Train.

With a sixth win in the bag and a final match against c0ntact to go, the European squad has already secured the first seed in Group B, which will see them pitted against Group A's second-placed team — NiP or Astralis — in the upper bracket semi-finals on Wednesday.

An undefeated streak sees FaZe through to the playoffs

Meanwhile, mousesports have continued to suffer from poor form in the Regional Major Ranking tournament, as GODSENT have dealt the Finn "karrigan" Andersen-led side their fourth loss in six matches after inspired performances from Martin "STYKO" Styk and Jesse "zehN" Linjala on Overpass and Train, respectively.

Despite a four-way or three-way tie for fourth place including mousesports being possible, Chris "chrisJ" de Jong's squad can not come out on top of any tiebreaking scenario. The remaining three playoffs spots in Group B will be contested among G2, GODSENT, Copenhagen Flames, and North in the last round of matches on Sunday at 18:30 .

Godsent should beat movistars at this point And G2 could easily beat North They just have to beat CPH Flames If this happens Faze doesn't matter G2 will be 5-2 Godsent will be 5-2 Mouz will be 3-4 North will be 3-4 CPH Flames will be 3-4 c0ntact doesn't matter Mouz has a good round differential compared to north and when beating CPH Flames they have a higher round differential than them too.

Mouz lost 2-0 to North North lost 2-0 to CPH Flames If mouz beats CPH Flames 2-0 Then h2h is the same? And mouz would be on top with round differential

H2h not round differential Mouz lost to north, movistar and God sent Therefore mouz can not be higher than north. North is 5th in the group rn going 3-3. Even If mouz wins they will have the same amount of wins. Therefore mouz can not qualify.
2020-05-09 02:19

They can't If they win 2-0 against CPH Flames: They will tie 2-2 with CPH Flames and North on map difference (with Movistar Riders in the mix CPH Flames and North advance with this tiebreak) Then overall map difference is the next tiebreak and mouz lost so much maps that no matter what, the other teams will have superior overall map difference

Is mouz really out of it? If G2 wins > North Mouz > CF with for example 32-0 (most important 2-0) then all of them should be on 9 points and have a tiebreak that goes down to round difference?

And CF 2-0 north and lets say mouz 2-0 CF, all of those in the tiebreak are 2-2 in map diffrence

ya my thoughts exactly, why should mouz be out of it? they can 3-way-tie with CPF and North if mouz wins 2-0 against CPF and Godsent wins Movie Riders. reason?
2020-05-08 22:49
2.16.4 Ranking During Group Stage Only the active ranking rule from this Rulebook is valid, not the ranking that is displayed on ESL's or ESEA's websites. If a number of teams are tied by win-loss difference at the end of the group, their ranking order will be decided as described below. When it comes to round scores, every overtime will be considered with the score of 16:15 for the winner. Actual OT scores only matter in the points 11. and 12.. If after any point from 1. to 10., the number of tied participants is reduced or divided into several groups of tied participants, the still tied participants will in each case be compared again starting with the first point. 1. Points amassed between the tied participants (direct match win > direct match loss) 2. Map difference between the tied participants (3:2 maps > 3:3 maps) 3. Number of map wins between the tied participants (3:3 maps > 2:2 maps) **4. Overall map difference** (see #32) 5. Overall number of map wins 6. Round score difference between the tied participants (23:21 > 23:22) 7. Number of round wins between the tied participants (24:22 > 23:21) 8. Overall round score difference (39:31 > 40:33) 9. Overall number of round wins (40:32 > 39:31) If the above points bring no further differentiation (this can only occur in case of a three-way-tie or five-way-tie), overtimes will be played among the tied teams until no ties remain that are relevant for qualification or seeding. Any other ties will not be resolved by overtimes, but prize money for the shared ranks will be split among the tied teams. The match order of the overtimes will be determined before the start of the first one. The first match-up is randomly determined. The next match-up will be chosen by the League based on the nature of the tie and the importance of the ranks (e.g., if the tie happens in a group where only the first place matters and the tie is for ranks 1-3, the second match will be the one with the winner of the first match) Overtimes will be played on the same map, which will be determined by veto. Order of the map veto process is ABCCBA, and the remaining map is played, it gets randomly determined which team is A/B/C. The sides are randomly determined in the first match, after that, each team has to start on the other side first (which determines the rest of the side choices). None of the OTs can end as a draw, it then gets continued until a winner is determined. The result of a multi-OT match will always be counted as 4:3 for all ranking purposes. If after any point from 10.-12. the number of tied teams is reduced or split up into different groups of tied teams, the tiebreaker process will be restarted from point 10. Sort by win-loss difference in the tiebreaker overtimes. 11. Sort by round score difference in the tiebreaker Ots. 12. Sort by number of round wins in the tiebreaker Ots. 13. If there are still unsolved ties, replay the tiebreaker Ots. In special cases, the Tournament Director can rule on a different way to determine the order in an unsolved tie (i.e. coin toss).

But cf 2-0 north and the 3 of them would have the same maps difference.. north 2-0 mous / 0-2 cf = 0 If mouse wins 2-0 against cf / 0-2 north = 0 Cf 2-0 north / 0-2 mouse = 0 You have no maps difference and round difference would be what determine who go through playoffs.. idk why they said mouse is out tbh

but i see the comment lmao, i understand why mouz is out, but yeah the tiebreaker that seals them is the map difference due to the other teams have 1-2 losses and mouz 0-2 losses
2020-05-10 17:17
1. Points amassed between the tied participants (direct match win > direct match loss) 2. Map difference between the tied participants (3:2 maps > 3:3 maps) 3. Number of map wins between the tied participants (3:3 maps > 2:2 maps) 4. Overall map difference - Four-way tie with Flames/North/Movistar Mouz are out on the 1st tiebreaker because they would have only won one match in three against these teams while both North and Flames would have 2 wins - Three-way tie with Flames/North 1st tiebreaker useless, they all went 1-1, but mouz are out on the 2nd tiebreaker in case of a 2-1 win over Flames (Flames 3-2, North 2-2, mouz 2-3 map difference) OR mouz survive 2nd tiebreaker because all teams would be 2-2 on maps, same with the 3rd, but they're out on the 4th because they'd have an overall 6-10 map difference while Flames would have 9-9 and North 8-9 or 9-9

No they have to tade one whole player for an igl who frags like shit and some performance drop in niko. But now they can add much more exp and firepower with a player like cold who can bring in clutches and play positions without support player, it also suits faze's playstyle.

Lot of these results show how incredibly shitty was whole SG "meta" (or we can call it joke?) . It was way too fucked up, but what is worse for WAY too long. It is perfectly visible on weaker players in pretty much each top team (there are some exceptions of course), who can't suddenly abuse that OP crap and their stats plummeted. And skilled players suddenly shine, as they always should. Btw i still wish for a slight buff for M4-S and even more for M4-A as its quite expensive now.
