smooya, Snappi close in on TIGER move
Owen "smooya" Butterfield and Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer are locked in talks with Mongolian side TIGER, HLTV.org has learned.
The British AWPer is on the brink of joining the team on a free transfer, while the Danish tactician will be bought of his contract with Heroic, who had moved him to the bench last month as part of an overhaul of the squad.
The duo will bring in a wealth of experience to TIGER, who recently raised eyebrows by winning the ESL One: Road to Rio Asian stop after beating TYLOO in the final. The Mongolian team will retain just 960 of the 1600 RMR points that they won following these changes, which will see Bold "ncl" Batsuh and Yesuntumur "nin9" Gantulga step down from the roster.
smooya has been without a team since the end of March, when he was released by Chaos due to being unable to return to the United States to reunite with the team after returning home to get his P1 visa approved. He returned to his best form during his brief tenure with the North American team, for whom he averaged a 1.32 rating.
Snappi returned to Heroic in September after a first stint with the team between 2016 and 2018. The 29-year-old initially took over the in-game leadership following Benjamin "blameF" Bremer's departure but relinquished the reins to Casper "cadiaN" Møller at the start of the year.
With these changes, TIGER will have:
Gan-Erdene "dobu" Batbold
Batbayar "kabal" Bat-Enkh
Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga
Owen "smooya" Butterfield
Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer
Yesuntumur 'nin9' Gantulga
