G2 top DreamHack Masters Spring - Europe Group A; North eliminated

G2 beat Astralis 2-0 to secure a DreamHack Masters Spring upper bracket playoff berth while North went out last in the group after losing to Heroic, who will join Astralis in the lower bracket.

The last DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 Group A matchday ended with G2 taking the prized first place in the group stage, qualifying straight to the playoffs' upper bracket, while Astralis and Heroic will move on through the lower bracket as the second and third-ranked teams in the group. North, who ended with the same record as Heroic, 1-2, were eliminated due to a head-to-head loss to Casper "cadiaN" Møller and company.

G2 defeated Astralis 2-0 to top Group A

North and Heroic kicked off the third and final day of DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 Group A in a bout that would decide which of the two teams would survive to play the next round of the tournament as both teams were susceptible to finishing in last place depending on the outcome of today's matches.

Up against the wall with a 0-2 record following losses to Astralis and G2, it was Heroic who were able to defeat their countrymen in a one-sided series on Train that saw them get to a flying start on the attacking side, 9-6, before closing it out 16-9. They then went on to dominate on Vertigo, 16-4, to secure their survival in the tournament.

The final Group A match featured Astralis and G2, who were fighting to take the top spot in the group and earn a direct berth into the playoff upper bracket. Despite a slow start on their map pick, Dust2, going down 3-7 on the CT side, G2 were able to bring it back to 8-7 at the half before going on to control the attacking side with relentless aggression on the B site to go up 1-0 in the series.

A strong 11-4 CT side on Nuke set G2 up to take the 2-0 victory, and although Astralis put up resistance early on in the second half, it was the Franco-Serbian team that was able to carry their momentum and close out the map and match to secure the upper bracket spot in the playoffs.

2020-05-21 21:24
Even if you are right, this clip proves nothing. I could show you a clutch from niko and say the same thing too
2020-05-21 22:17
i'm trying to say that he has different roles other than fragging in g2, he's their main clutch player on top of that Watch their comms on youtube, they often use him as a bait
2020-05-21 23:14
I said it because ..he's a better clutch player ..mechanically more good than AMANEK ..and the roles AManek play ... JackZ or nexa can play bait n switch too :) .. they don't always make JaCkz an entry fragger .. especially based on their strats .. it's mostly kenny or hnt take entries .
2020-05-22 04:39
no,losing jackz early in the round would not be good, he gets many important frags Nexa can be used as bait, but many a times he top frags in the team That's the problem with g2, everybody is too precious and frags well,so losing any player early would not fare well for the team Also amanek is the site anchor in many maps, so.... i dont think anybody else in g2 has the patience like him, which is very important as an anchor
2020-05-22 05:49
Nexa top Frags ..but don't you have niko ?
2020-05-22 07:22
but niko cant top frag every game watch yesterday's game, amanek played very well on dust2 and was the reason g2 won i think niko is more of an individual fragger instead of a team player, amanek helps the team more
2020-05-22 07:39
Hunter and Kenny don't play bad every time
2020-05-22 13:10
why would g2 downgrade amanek to niko

2020-05-21 21:01
That's why they need Gla1ve, without him, Magisk doesn't have the experience to call like him

Jugi is an absolute fucking bot, i cant wait for Es3tag to come in to replace him, perhaps that'll stabilize Astralis just a little bit in the absence of Gla1ve
