WePlay! Clutch Island to serve as Summer RMR tournament in CIS

WePlay! has announced that its tournament called 'Clutch Island' will host the Summer Regional Major Ranking tournament for the CIS region.

The main tournament will be held on June 16-28 and will offer the participants a total of $50,000 in prizemoney and the second-largest number of points available in the regional qualifying system for the ESL One: Rio Major, where the CIS region will hold two Legends, one Challenger, and two Contenders spots.

WePlay! Clutch Island will be played in three stages, starting from three open qualifiers on June 8-10, with each yielding one spot in the closed qualifier. There, the three open winners will join the sixth-tenth teams based on the RMR ranking — Nemiga, Syman, Gambit Youngsters, forZe, and Espada, should the teams make no more changes — in a GSL group stage, followed by a double-elimination bracket.

Hard Legion currently lead the CIS RMR standings

The three best teams from the closed qualifier will take part in the main tournament alongside the top-five teams according to the CIS RMR ranking — Hard Legion, Spirit, Virtus.pro, Winstrike, and Natus Vincere at the moment — and play a GSL group stage, which will lead into a double-elimination bracket.

The prizepool and RMR points distribution looks as follows:

1. $15,000 + 2,000 RMR points
2. $10,000 + 1,875 RMR points
3. $6,000 + 1,750 RMR points
4. $5,000 + 1,625 RMR points
5. $4,500 + 1,500 RMR points
6. $3,500 + 1,375 RMR points
7. $3,000 + 1,250 RMR points
8. $3,000 + 1,125 RMR points
9. 1,000 RMR points
10. 875 RMR points

The current standings of the RMR ranking in the CIS region look as follows, assuming the teams signed up with their current rosters:

1. Russia Hard Legion - 1,640 points
2. Russia Spirit - 1,600 points
3. CIS Virtus.pro - 1,520 points
4. Kazakhstan Winstrike - 1,500 points
5. Russia Natus Vincere - 1,430 points
6. Belarus Nemiga - 1,200 points
7. CIS Syman - 1,100 points
8. Russia Gambit Youngsters - 950 points
9-10. Russia forZe - 750 points
9-10. Russia Espada - 750 points
11. Russia Unique - 550 points
12. Russia pro100 - 440 points

With cs_summit hosting the North American and European Summer RMR tournaments, only the Asian event remains to be revealed after Valve announced that there will be no Summer tournament in South America and Oceania.

why hard legion 1st if they were 3rd?
2020-06-02 13:57
They have 240 points from the StarLadder Major, which puts them above Spirit and Winstrike, and Virtus.pro lost 20% of their total points because of a lineup change

thanks :)

Are you sure about that RMR points distribution? Because Valve says this: ”Q. Who earns points at an RMR event? [NEW] A. In May, since all teams arrived through the normal Major qualification process, all teams will earn RMR. For other RMR events, only the top N teams will earn points, where N is the number of teams invited by RMR. E.g., an event that invites top 4 teams by RMR and 12 teams by other means will only generate RMR points for top 4 places. An event that invites all 16 teams by RMR will generate RMR points for all 16 places.” Source: blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/csgo-r.. edit: Or is it considered an invite if some teams are invited to the closed quali only? Confusing.
2020-06-02 16:38
I took the distribution from the announcement, but your theory is as good as mine. Technically the "closed qualifier" could just be viewed as another part of the tournament, so I can see why it would count towards that. And it fits, there are 10 invites in total based on RMR. E: And it makes sense to me, the reason it works like this (in my opinion) is that Valve don't want tournament organizers to be able control (to a degree) which teams gain points and they see the RMR standings as a representation of the best teams in the region.
2020-06-02 18:06
because they had points of berlin 2019
2020-06-02 14:00
ye :D
2020-06-02 14:06
They played the Berlin Major as Dreameaters and had some points left over from that. Same way VP is 3rd and NA'VI is 5th when they finished lower in the R2R. I think everyone else only has points from Road to Rio though.
