smooya becomes free agent
Owen "smooya" Butterfield has announced that he is once again open to offers after being freed from his contract.
However, those plans were ditched following the team's recent uptick in form. Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga's side are currently leading the Asian Regional Major Rankings (RMR) after winning the region's ESL One: Road to Rio tournament and would have lost almost half of their 1600 points in case of a double change.
On Twitter, smooya noted that he will only entertain offers from European and North American teams, adding that he is determined to prove himself again following the abrupt end to his stint with Chaos.
The former BIG player moved to the United States in January and enjoyed a productive spell under Joshua "steel" Nissan, averaging a 1.32 rating. However, he ended up being released just two months into his contract due to visa issues after the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible for him to obtain a P-1 visa and reunite with the team.
smooya was the guest on the latest edition of the 'HLTV confirmed' show, where he talked about his time in North America, the TIGER situation, what he has been doing during the pandemic, and player burnout in esports. You can watch the VOD here.
