WePlay! Clutch Island groups announced

The organizers of WePlay! Clutch Island have announced the group stage distribution for the CIS Regional Major Ranking event.

The groups have been distributed in a similar way to the previous RMR event, ESL One: Road to Rio. This time joined by Gambit Youngsters, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, and Hard Legion are once again set to lock horns in the same group, which last time saw the Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov-led heavyweights lose to both teams and exit the tournament early in early May.

On the other side, Spirit will hope to repeat their undefeated run at Road to Rio in a group with Nemiga and Winstrike, whom they beat en route to the spring RMR title last month, as well as Espada.

NAVI enter the summer RMR event hoping to improve on Road to Rio

The group stage is slated to begin on June 23 and will be played in a GSL format, which will see the top-two teams in each group earn berths in a double-elimination playoffs bracket. The distribution looks as follows:

Russia Kirill 'Boombl4' Mikhailov

They used to be the actual academy team until Valve announced their rules about multiple teams owned by the same org. They officially separated but nothing seems to align with that statement. For instance, the staff and players in Espada have mostly played for Spirit, and joined after the breakup was official. When Mir had a power outage Dima (Espada player) stood in after about 20 minutes with the team and seemed to know exactly what roles to play and their strats. Didn't look like a stand-in According to my sources, both journalists and CIS experts have claimed they never broke up. When the teams met in minor open qualifier they met. Espada had a comfortable lead until they got 14 rounds, on both maps. Then Spirit won 16-14 It might just be a conspiracy, but to the eye test it really look like the same org

Not really. I am not sure if they have filed their connection as a conflict of interest or not They did play eachother in the minor open qualifier. Which ended with Espada getting to 14 then choking.
