Spirit and NAVI round out WePlay! Clutch Island playoffs

In two rematches from the opening round of the tournament, Spirit and Natus Vincere secured the last two playoffs spots at WePlay! Clutch Island after wins over Espada and Gambit Youngsters.

A double-elimination playoffs bracket is set to take place next in the CIS Major Ranking tournament, which will begin with Friday's upper bracket semi-finals as Natus Vincere are slated to take on Nemiga, followed by a rematch from the ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe qualifier between Virtus.pro and Spirit.

Although out of playoffs contention, Espada and Gambit Youngsters are still not completely out of the running as they have a chance to earn 125 additional points in the ranking in a fifth-place decider between the two.

NAVI came back from 6-13 on Inferno to take revenge on Gambit

Spirit's clear-cut win over Espada in Group A's deciding match was perhaps best encapsulated on Twitter by the losing team's Dmitriy "Dima" Bandurka, who reflected on the match in rather blunt yet fitting fashion with "nas viebali" (we got f**ked) shortly after leaving the server.

Facing his former squad, Dmitry "S0tF1k" Forostyanko and company indeed received a beating in a rematch from the tournament's opening round, this time being unable to contest either map as Spirit conceded just five and seven rounds on Nuke and Overpass, respectively, on the back of an all-around great performance.

In Group B, Natus Vincere went up against Gambit Youngsters in another rematch from the first round of the group stage in hopes of retaliation for the opening loss. The heavy favorites came out on top in two maps this time, though it was a hard-fought victory as Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov's side were at one point up 13-6 on Inferno.

Denis "electronic" Sharipov spearheaded the comeback on the opening map, leading the way as Natus Vincere took the map to overtime after putting together a dominant offense, where the giants also did the majority of the work after regulation time to secure Inferno 19-16.

Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev's squad could breathe a little easier on their own pick, Train, where NAVI's success on the typically less favored offense continued, contrary to their recent struggles on the Terrorist side. With an 11-4 half in the bag, closing the series was just a matter of time when Natus Vincere also won the pistol round, and they did so without too much trouble at 16-8.

Spirit is great. I think it's just the matter before they will enter TOP 15. NaVi is just a really bad team, their results are not bead, but look at what teams they play, Hard Legion, Gambit Youngsters, it's not really a success to beat such teams. They sometimes have a fluke win like the win over G2 for example, but it's because s1mple sometimes just wins games alone for them. Overall really bad team.
