FaZe outclass Heretics, ENCE scrape win over x6tence
Heretics and x6tence have been eliminated in last place of cs_summit 6 after losses to FaZe and ENCE, respectively.
The French side was unable to build on their success in the previous Regional Major Ranking tournament, Road to Rio, as the second event counting towards the ranking saw them go out in last place after suffering two tough losses. With GODSENT jumping ahead of them, Heretics will drop by at least one spot to eighth place and potentially lower should teams such as North, Movistar Riders, and fnatic do well at the event.
x6tence had already been below the top-11 threshold ahead of their participation in cs_summit 6, and the early exit will only set them further behind in their campaign to qualify for the ESL One Rio Major, as they could fall as low as to 16th place of the ranking by the end of the tournament.
On Thursday Heretics were sent to Group D's lower bracket following one-sided losses on two out of three maps against OG before FaZe put the final nail in the coffin in another convincing affair. The second time around, Heretics couldn't contest Nuke in the same way they had against Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen's side after picking the map only to struggle up against FaZe's dominant defense.
The European mixture won seven rounds unanswered to start things off and went on to claim an 11-4 half, with a halfbuy victory in the latter portion helping them reclaim lost momentum. When sides switched, a quad-kill from Nikola "NiKo" Kovač in the second pistol round put FaZe in prime position to close the map 16-4.
Train went just as smoothly for the favorites, who started on the offense this time and had in Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras and Håvard "rain" Nygaard a great front line, which kept gaining advantages as FaZe entered the bombsites without suffering too many casualties and forced Heretics to save weapons repeatedly. Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey's side stared down the barrel after picking up just two rounds on the favored side and soon conceded the series at 7-16.

x6tence had made a poor account of themselves in their first appearance under the new banner against NiP, losing the opening bout of the tournament after putting just ten rounds on the board over two maps, but they certainly put up much more of a fight when they went up against ENCE in the elimination match.
A back-and-forth first half of Overpass had the Danes end up with a one-round advantage on the offense thanks to some key plays from Hector "HECTOz" Jensen and Jonas "Queenix" Dideriksen, and despite a slow start in the second half the former Copenhagen Flames went on to clinch their own pick on the back of a dominant defensive streak.
Train was clearly the Finns' domain, as ENCE opened their map choice with a solid Terrorist half after surviving a couple of early anti-forcebuy scares. With Miikka "suNny" Kemppi giving his team double digits with a triple in the second pistol, ENCE stayed in control of the map and equalized the series at 16-9.
It came down to Nuke, where x6tence looked insurmountable after picking up a second-round forcebuy and running away with the next eight rounds, but the map was far from over as ENCE responded with four out of the last five to save their chances. It didn't take long for them to close the gap to just one round when they got off well on the defense, and soon Aleksi "allu" Jalli & co. had the lead after preventing x6tence from securing consecutive rounds. Regulation time wasn't enough for either team to come out on top, but in overtime ENCE stepped up with four in a row to scrape by the Danish team 19-15, 2-1.
