Spirit and NAVI top the CIS Regional Major Rankings; forZe qualification in doubt

Natus Vincere jumped up to the second place in the CIS RMR standing after winning WePlay! Clutch Island, sitting behind Spirit, while the third-highest ranked CIS side, forZe, are lagging behind significantly.

Results from a total of four events will be counted towards the CIS Regional Major Rankings: the Berlin Major, ESL One: Road to Rio - CIS, WePlay! Clutch Island, and a yet-unannounced Autumn RMR event. With three of the events already played out, we are getting closer to the final list of five CIS teams that will qualify for the ESL One Rio Major.

forZe are ranked 10th in the CIS RMR, 1015 points behind fifth-placed Hard Legion

Five spots at the Major are reserved for CIS teams, with the top two qualifying as Legends, the third as Challenger, and fourth and fifth as Contenders - the different titles deciding where the team starts the event and their seed.

As of now, Spirit, Natus Vincere, Virtus.pro, Nemiga, and Hard Legion sit in the top five spots:

1. Russia Spirit - 3475 (Legend spot)
2. Russia Natus Vincere - 3430 (Legend spot)
3. CIS Virtus.pro - 3270 (Challenger spot)
4. Belarus Nemiga - 2825 (Contender spot)
5. Russia Hard Legion - 2765 (Contender spot)
6. Kazakhstan Winstrike - 2750
7. Russia Gambit Youngsters - 2325
8. Russia Espada - 2250
9. Kazakhstan Syman - 1755
10. Russia forZe - 1750
11. Russia pro100 - 440
12. CIS Kaban (ex-Unique) - 330

Spirit's victory in ESL One: Road to Rio - CIS combined with the second place in the WePlay! Clutch Island earned them 3475 points, as they keep the lead ahead of Natus Vincere who, unlike Spirit, have 480 points from the Berlin Major, but suffered a group-stage exit in the Road to Rio before winning the latest RMR event.

Virtus.pro follows in third after collecting points in all three events, with Hard Legion and Nemiga following as teams that would be Contenders if the ranking stays the same. The Belarusian squad is one of the positive surprises of the CIS qualification process, as they started it as an outsider, ranked 49th in the world, but have been able to put up good performances consistently.

Winstrike is currently just 15 points "below the line", with Gambit Youngsters and Espada following and all three teams having strong chances to make the jump at the final event. The times are more worrying for Syman and especially forZe. Andrey "Jerry" Mekhryakov's squad is the third-highest ranked CIS team according to the world rankings, but are sitting in tenth place of the CIS RMR, lagging 1015 points behind fifth-placed Hard Legion.

forZe are not out yet, as the final, Autumn RMR event will give out significantly more points than the previous two, but they would need a lot of things going their way to secure a top five spot and a slot at the Major.

The Autumn RMR event will award the following number of points, based on the placing:

1. 2500 RMR Points
2. 2344 RMR Points
3. 2188 RMR Points
4. 2031 RMR Points
5. 1875 RMR Points
6. 1719 RMR Points
7. 1563 RMR Points
8. 1406 RMR Points
9. 1250 RMR Points
10. 1094 RMR Points
11. 938 RMR Points
12. 781 RMR Points
13. 625 RMR Points
14. 469 RMR Points
15. 313 RMR Points
16. 156 RMR Points

why not man, navi is performing very good on lan, mb in online they've lost consistency, but imho I don't think it is fair to not give them place on major based on relatively poor performances in online. By now, tbh navi is the only team from cis that can outplay any team in the top.

Spirit is really good. I know it's very controversial opinion but for me NaVi looks really bad atm. forZe can be solid at this TOP 20-30 level, however I don't think they will re-enter TOP 20 with this roster.

I don't know what to say about "really bad atm", I mean it is the same inconsistency for them, yes, they are not at their best now, but even though they put some scrappy matches and good matches and win something they should anyway dominate.. On the other hand, CIS has a lot of good teams now, many of them could make an upset on a big team, but they still miss something, maybe better strategies or the feelings they get because they play with top teams... Forze can still work with this roster if they manage to find their style again, I am a little upset about Syman though, they should have been top 5. And surprised by Nemiga, expected them to be at the bottom with kaban, pro 100 and espada

Syman is really bad aswell, and also they have this no name kade0 who I have no idea who is he, I don't think they will get into TOP 30, not saying aobut TOP 5. What is kaban? pro100 didn't even play in WePlay. Espada can be solid at this T4 level, but I don't think they will get into TOP 30 with this roster.

Hard Legion were 1st while NaVi were 4th or 5th at the end of the first RMR tournament , 1 more event and the rankings got shaked. Prove that no team is safe at the moment , considering the next event is going to reward even more points! Just hope Spirit do finish as the top 2 and qualify as Legends, they have been really really good lately!
2020-06-29 12:37

1-2 = Legend 3 (maybe 4 too) = Challenger 5 (maybe 4 too( = Contender. I am not sure whether Challenger gets 2 or whether contender.

That no one is save is the idea behind it. In EU you are probably save with 2500p cuz more teams steal points of each other. And that makes it good. If one is save after a win of this tournaments it would be boring

it would be really rare to have tie with 150 point system and if it would happen they could have placing in last tournament to be tiebreaker. that would have been much "cleaner" but your explanation makes perfect sense. ty

Well they have to come in last place to not qualify and tbh, they will surely win a few games. ForZe on the other hand need to win the whole thing or come in 2nd/3rd to barely qualify
2020-06-29 13:16
ForZe are not even a rival for Nemiga yet, they should be focusing on Winstrike, GY and Espada.

In CIS currently last place to qualify has 2765 points. 1st place in last tournament gives you 2500 points. So even if the other teams would get 0 points (only if they skip the tournament) team with no points wouldnt qualify.

Buy a good placement would give you prize money and exposure, and the teams yet to have points in CIS have no chance of making it far anyways.

 |
Finland JooonsMO
To me its not about prize money, exposure or how far team would make. To me major qualifiers is about qualifying to major. This qualifier doesnt fully make sense. Well its used for the 1st time and they will probably tweak it if its also used in future.
2020-06-29 16:47
Idk about the first event, but the amount of teams invited from the RMR leaderboard to the event is the amout of placings that give points. The Fall RMR will not give points to 16 teams since there are only 12 on the leaderboard at all
2020-06-29 14:18

 |
Finland JooonsMO
Why this news then tell that 16th placed team gets 156 points? Why would it matter how many teams have points before this tournament?
2020-06-29 14:29
As an example, WePlay invited the top 10 teams in the CIS RMR leaderboard (5 to main event, 5 to closed qualifier), meaning only the 10 best teams in that event got points. (all 8 teams in main event and 2 teams in qualifier got points)
2020-06-29 14:37

 |
Finland JooonsMO
Well cs_summit 6 Online: Europe invited 15 teams from the EU RMR leaderboard but all 16 teams got points. Doesnt add up with your logic or is this exception? and if it is why make 1 exception?
2020-06-29 15:31
Well that certainly doesn't make sense. I remember a Valve blogpost that said what I just did. Maybe Astralis dropping out fucked the system or something
