Gen.G take down Liquid; to face Evil Geniuses in cs_summit 6 grand final

Liquid's run in the summer RMR event has been brought to an end as Gen.G took a 2-1 victory over them in the consolidation final (13-16 Nuke, 16-13 Mirage, 16-9 Vertigo).

One of the last top-level matches ahead of the summer player break was an exciting back-and-forth between Gen.G and Liquid, with the latter team picking up the opening map victory before Damian "daps" Steele and co. recovered to earn a 2-1 victory. Gen.G will be playing for the cs_summit 6 title tomorrow against Evil Geniuses in a BO5 grand final which they start with a one map disadvantage, hoping to repeat their ESL One: Road to Rio victory and cement their place at the Major.

Liquid's 4-0 start on the T side of Nuke was countered by Timothy "autimatic" Ta AWP quad kill, which gave Gen.G their first. After that, daps and Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand were crucial in rounds to help their team establish, 6-5. BnTeT had a few more multikill round which were converted in his team's favor, however, with some tight rifle-work from Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Liquid regained the lead before first half ended, 8-7.

autimatic bunny hopped into Ramp and got two entries on the pistol to set up his team for a good T side and Gen.G were up 11-8 shortly. Then the game started going back-and-forth, with Liquid coming up as the winner's thanks to good economy management, and Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken 3K Main hold turning the tides od the match. Liquid cleaned up the ecos and after Jake "Stewie2K" Yip's triple, closed out Nuke 16-13.

s0m had a slow start to the series, but showed up on Vertigo (2.10 rating)

Another 4-0 start from Liquid, now on Mirage, fell flat as daps pulled off a 1v2 clutch to rally his troops. The score was 6-4 before Liquid won a low-buy, flanking Gen.G's A execute, which started a five-round streak that gave Nick "nitr0" Cannella's men nine before the swap.

nitr0 was the main man in the pistol that followed, claiming three kills in the 2v3 on B, but Liquid's inability to convert the 3-0 meant that the game was a brawl right from the start of the second half. Eventually, Gen.G established themselves on the defense, taking the lead after a 3v3 B retake (12-11), with BnTeT standing out in the late-round scenarios. Liquid had their chances in the final stretch, but losing to a daps bomb defuse in a 1v2 and an anti-eco in round 29 resulted in Gen.G taking map, 16-13.

After two subdued maps, Sam "s0m" Oh posted 12 frags in the first four rounds of Vertigo as his team took a 4-0 lead, only for Liquid to recover with a streak of their own, edging ahead after a Twistzz 1v2 clutch (5-4). That advantage was short-lived, as Gen.G found success with retakes to set themselves up for a 9-6 half.

Liquid took the second half pistol, but Gen.G's force buy win that followed set them up perfectly to tie up Vertigo on the Terrorist side, with the economy working in their favor. At 14-7, Kenneth "koosta" Suen found a double entry and Gen.G went on to match point, which they converted on to secure a place in the grand final against Evil Geniuses.

Having anything in Brazil with Bolsonaros handling of covid-19 is outright retarded, really. I'd move the major rather than cancelling it. Brazil can blame their presidents actions, he hasn't handled covid-19, he refused it is more than a flu, WHEN people are dying left and right...

Uhm, but I am right, Bolsonaro is handling this like shit, it's spreading through the favelas like a rogue bushfire, he rallied people to demonstrations when he himself was sick. The indigenous people are getting sick and dying because they rely on selling and buying in the bigger cities, bringing covid-19 to their villages. Brazil has one of the highest number of cases and deaths per capita in the world. It hasn't been handled poorly in Brazil, it hasn't been handled at all. It's private doctors, nurses and ambulances doing the grunt work because the government is failing its people. If you can't see this, you are blind.

Yup, he is like Trump, not the same, but the same. The difference is, the US is now shutting down again, which hurts the economy more, but Brazil never did, sadly, so there will be more cases and deaths coming :( God speed to you Brazilians, I fear you might need it for the rest of 2020
2020-07-06 21:17

Actually, Brazil did shut down in most of the places, but because of the governors taking measures by themselves and going against Bolsonaro's will. He is constantly trying to force the "nothing is happening, we need to work" propaganda and then someone has to clean his mess in the following days. Brazil doesn't have more deaths/cases because some people are still sane.
2020-07-07 00:18
I said not at all, if u dont understand u are deef, i agree like 90% of ur post, but actually there is something that u cant see, only living there u can proove some stuff, the worst things are not on tv news. I think should find out what i am talking about. Bolsonaro rised cuz of the DH brazilians voted on him, its the people's choice and its people's fault. They made the problem, the people were fooled of promises, and here u can see that there are no promise. OmegaLuL

No way online major gonna happen, the point of major is to make teams from all regions to compete in one tournament, you cant do that with online. My guess is they gonna move to another country that already stabilize their country from Covid-19 and delay major in Brazil to next year.

I am pretty sure that's what is going to happen. The only other existing option would to be to delay again the major to the next year (spring?). However I think that they will just move it to somewhere in Europe. I am 99% certain that there won't be a Major in Brazil in 2020..

Winning what? the last thing they won was last year. There will always be a hump in getting to 1st but daps had consistency, it was various deep runs, not a deep run here and round robin drop out there like stan.
2020-07-05 08:03
Not really lmao, stan was what made them get over the slump. Hes a better IGL both tactically and mechanically.

Then why did they drop off dramatically after that tourny win? It was fluke run. Daps and the team were already in an upwards trend, but kicking of daps for a “better” igl always made the team better fir a few weeks or months then they drop down.
2020-07-05 08:00

Ah yes they dropped down but now look at them. They're dominating the NA scene again and demolished GenG twice. Idk man, but stan may not be a big upgrade tactically, but he def is an upgrade mechanically.
2020-07-06 07:28
To be fair I could probably do well enough to win games if I got to put together a team like Gen G, like no brainer that a team with BNTET+autimatic gonna be atleast decent.

You think its only zews who suddenly made them completely good again? Jesus what a dumb take. Sure he helped them but a coach doesnt allow every single player on a team to start fragging again. Stanislaw was an upgrade over daps and still is. Dont know how you could say otherwise. Probably what I get for arguing on hltv forums.

2020-07-05 15:41
tbh it's more a question of different igl style. Stan seems to me as more risk-taking, which is why there's bigger highs and lower lows. daps is a better choice imo simply because he can provide the structure and stability from which a team player can build on and flash in the pan. but he might not mesh with players who want to make more risk and go yolo, which very much can yield good results when they're hitting shots

Gen.G lacks structure, and overall I feel like their results are better than their actual gameplay. Liquid can be solid TOP 10 team, however I don't think they will re-enter TOP 5 with this roster. Grand final should be still easy for Evil Geniuses.

You got it all wrong. In NA, GenG and 100T are the most tactical and structural teams. EG and C9 are more hybrid style with occasional good igling. COL and liquid are firepower heavy. Stewie led Liquid lack structure actually. When Elige go kill or Naf go kill doesn't work they fall flat

EG are the team where everyone is fragging if they play well, and that's working. It's more about individual. C9 is not tactical at all, it's all about individuals. And EliGE go kill or NAF go kill works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't because they some other players can't keep up even close to the level of their teammates.
