China to host $300,000 FunSpark ULTI
The event will feature eight top sides and will offer qualifiers for teams from three different regions.
CGA and 5EPlay have announced the first details about their next event, called FunSpark ULTI, which will have a $300,000 prize pool. This represents the most ambitious project yet for CGA, which has organized events like the China Cup and the NEST Pro Series in the past.
The tournament is currently scheduled for December 1-6, but it is likely it will be postponed until 2021 after the Chinese General Administration of Sports announced last week that the country will not stage any sports events for the rest of the year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"We will host the LAN when it's safe for international players to travel to China again," a CGA representative told HLTV.org. There are currently three options to be the host city for the event: Beijing, Hainan and Chengdu.
FunSpark ULTI will feature eight teams, four invited and four qualified, with TYLOO and FURIA being the first two sides confirmed for the event. The online qualifiers will run from August 8 through October 10 in three regions (North America, Europe/CIS and Asia) and will also have $37,500 up for grabs.
The team list for the Chinese event currently looks as follows:
