Triumph to replace curry with penny - Report
The Canadian player will make his first appearance for the team in Sunday's Mythic Summer Cup.
Triumph are set to enlist the services of former Oceanus member Erik "penny" Penny, sources tell HLTV.org. The 18-year-old upcoming talent would replace Rahul "curry" Nemani, who will be headed to college in the fall.
Sources said that although curry's short-term college schedule would be viable for him to remain in the team, any increase in activity in the future as well as a return to offline play would force him to drop out, an option that is off the table for the player for multiple reasons.
During his three-month-long tenure on Triumph, curry has averaged a 1.05 rating as the team's entry fragger, achieving runner-up finishes in WINNERS League Season 4 and Mythic Invite League Season 1. He also helped them make an impression in BLAST Premier Spring, where the team tied against 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses and defeated Cloud9 before narrowly conceding a loss to Gen.G in the quarter-finals.
penny has been a talent on the rise in North America for the past two years, being one of the four names alongside curry, Erick "Xeppaa" Bach, and Nathan "leaf" Orf that Anthony "vanity" Malaspina mentioned had the potential to go pro in an interview with Dust2.us at Fragadelphia 14.
He made his MDL debut in Season 32 at the age of seventeen, where he averaged a 1.09 rating over 27 maps and achieved a fourth place finish in playoffs. His performance exponentially improved over the course of the next two seasons, where he managed 1.17 and 1.22 ratings as a part of Rugratz and Oceanus, respectively.
penny will make his first appearance for Triumph on Sunday in Mythic Summer Series Cup 2, where the likes of Ze Pug Godz and Yeah will also compete. Practice with their new member will be critical for the team as a chance to earn a spot in ESL Pro League Season 12 awaits them in the first week of August.
With the change, Triumph's roster would consist of:
Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman
Michael "Grim" Wince
Gabe "Spongey" Greiner
Paytyn "junior" Johnson
Erik "penny" Penny
Marcos "tacitus" Castilho (coach)
