adreN comments on Grim's Liquid integration

The Triumph prospect will be given a majority of his roles from his former team.

In a morning stream on Wednesday, Liquid coach Eric "adreN" Hoag responded to inquiries about the team's impending change to their roster, which will reportedly see veteran Nick "nitr0" Cannella step down to make room for one of North America's most promising prospects, Michael "Grim" Wince.

When asked about what role the 19-year-old would fill on Liquid, adreN mentioned that Grim would "get most of the spots he was already playing", occupying "pretty much the same role he was in on his previous team." He also later went on to say that the team had not clocked in any practice hours with Grim as of yet.

Liquid will keep Grim comfortable as he will retain most of his spots

When asked about a possible clash in spots between Grim and Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, the Liquid coach went on to specify that the two players only overlapped in two spots out of the six maps that the team plays, not making mention of any specifics as to what maps or roles overlapped. In an answer to who would use the AWP, adreN said it would continue to be a shared role, one which has primarily alternated between Jake "Stewie2K" Yip and Keith "NAF" Markovic depending on maps and positions.

Grim being comfortable in his spots may be a crucial factor in Liquid making up for a lacklustre start to 2020. The former Triumph rifler has impressed since the start of the year, averaging a 1.31 rating against the likes of Evil Geniuses, MIBR, and 100 Thieves. He is set to debut for Liquid in their DreamHack Open Summer campaign, set to run from August 8-16.

all you need to know is this: - grim is a very respected guy and people like him as much as your regular teddy bear - he seems to be very good guy - his results are crazy, considering the team he had at his disposal - he is really inteligent when it comes to this game and his frag/aim keeps up, he does not hide his stats behind the IGL role, as most of IGLs do. Of course, we still have to see how will he do on TL, but imo, it was an outstanding move

Me too. I really liked how Triumph played. It worries me how much resistence he might face from consolidated star players like stew and twistzz, that usually carries bad rep, but I really think this is a good move. Just imagine how good it can be having ELIGE at his dispposal

2020-07-30 14:18
Stewie isn't a dedicated AWPer. Besides, nitr0 wasn't the sole IGL for the last few months. Stewie was already splitting the calling even before they swapped it completely over to him. NAF and Stewie are superior AWPers over nitr0 in my book. Who calls doesn't really matter right now because their coach can call the shots. Stewie still has good stats and he's performing his in-server duties as is evident when watching them playing. nitr0 was the weakest link and if they weren't a superteam before, they certainly are now.

2020-07-30 00:42
lul, imagine thinking liquid would get rid of elige
2020-07-30 02:40
I don’t think they will get rid of him I have a feeling he might leave
2020-07-30 02:42
i highly doubt it, just because some young talent is filling in the same roles as him on 1/3 of the maps?
2020-07-30 03:43
out all the absolute best of the best players to have every touched counter strike, elige is one of the best ones in terms of teamplay and mentality, he has next to no ego like s1mple or niko does, so i guarantee elige will have absolutely NO problem at all with that, and in fact, will probably like it and would like being able to share his knowledge of those spots to the knowledge grim already knows about the same spots to make grim an even better player
2020-07-30 17:30

Yeah, I gotta strongly agree. EliGE definitely has no ego and will be able to change up where/how he plays pretty easily for the sake of his team, even if the overlap is a bit bigger than they're letting on. I'm excited to see the synergy between him and grim as far as the team goes :D

EliGE is so fucking godlike he can play ANY spots he ever wants/team needs him to play. They should make Grim's roles comfortable for him and EliGE will be God on any spot they need him to play.

2020-07-29 23:58
adreN is out of the roster next though, lmfao.
2020-07-30 00:05
0/8, Adren is a great coach and keeps overall moral up, they won’t get rid of one of the best coaches in NA (next to ImaPet)
2020-07-30 00:15
i would rather get adreN in the analyst seat, dude's a brilliant analyst from what i see, but he's not that good of a person in terms of hyping up the team and just to handle the team whenever something bad unexpectedly happens (don't mind the username, i want him as a analyst deep down in my heart)
2020-07-30 13:05
lol pog, as coach he does sit in that analyze seat as well, He just deserves the title coach more than analyst. Although I doubt it, but imagine if Liquid picks up ImaPet. Where would Adren go? Maybe some top ESEA team with a line up ready to step up to the big leagues. Silly Season Predictions

Honestly it's time for Elige to take a step up in the team much like Simple has in Na'vi. He doesn't need to be the IGL but he needs to be a leader of sorts and this is a perfect opportunity for him to show that he can do that. I think there are a lot of parralels between those two players just in terms of timing and skill and abrasive personalities and growing into better people. But Elige will be even more important in this new roster then he was in the last. I think he's got it in him for sure and I hope he and Grim can co-exist and thrive.

For the moment this sounds great and it sounds like a very sensible way to integrate a younger player. The worry has to be whether they have a good enough IGL once they get back on LAN. If Stewie can't deliver as IGL then they're in a lot of trouble because if they drop Stewie they need a new world class IGL who can at least secondary AWP. Good luck with that!
2020-07-30 00:56
im hyped for grim but people overrate him surely he needed a better team than triumph but dont forget he only played vs t3 na teams and it was online, not even lan so who knows how he will perform against t1 on lan
