Wisla Krakow part ways with fanatyk
The Polish squad has cut ties with their least experienced member ahead of the start of the new season, with his replacement set to be announced "early next week".
A fairly unknown figure on the international scene, the 20-year-old Dominik "fanatyk" Barkiet, joined Wisla Krakow alongside Olek "hades" Miskiewicz and Grzegorz "jedqr" Jędras in April, when the organization unveiled their overhauled lineup which was created under the supervision of experienced coach and former CS1.6 pro Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski.
While the other two additions flourished into the team's best performers over the last three months, fanatyk, who only played his first HLTV-featured match after joining Wisla Krakow, struggled to adapt to the level of competition.
As they were not able to go higher than the 68th place in the world rankings and suffered early exits in events such as the Home Sweet Home Cup 8, Nine to Five 1, and Loot.bet Season 7, Wisla Krakow's roster change doesn't come as a surprise. Domestically they also failed to impress, finishing 5-6th in the ESL Polish Championship Spring behind the likes of PACT, Illuminar, and AVEZ.
The team captain, Grzegorz "SZPERO" Dziamałek, stated that level of competition fanatyk was throw into "was certainly not an easy challenge for him", and that despite the youngster's hard work and progress, he "did not fully fit into the role entrusted to him", which led to the change. However, SZPERO added that their game would "significantly improve" with the new, yet unrevealed roster.
fanatyk's replacement will be revealed early next week, Wisla Krakow announced, with Polish outlet Weszlo Esport reporting that 25-year-old Patryk "ponczek" Wites is likely the one set to complete the lineup.
Wisla Krakow is currently down to four:
Mariusz "Loord" Cybulski (coach)
