Chaos crush Triumph in DreamHack Open Summer opener

Chaos won their opening match against Triumph convincingly, 16-6 on Mirage and 16-2 on Nuke, and will face Liquid next.

Chaos showed a dominant performance in their DreamHack Open Summer 2020 North America opening match against Triumph, who recently added Kaleb "moose" Jayne after Michael "Grim" Wince's departure, and will face Liquid in Group A's winners' match on Tuesday.

The series kicked off on Chaos’ map pick, Mirage, and Joshua "steel" Nissan and company got ahead after the T-side pistol round. They then lost against the forecebuy, but charged ahead to a 4-1 lead regardless. Triumph put up two successful defenses to keep it within one, but melted when Chaos heated things up, with Erick "Xeppaa" Bach leading the charge as they ran away with a 10-5 lead at the half.

A triple by steel pushed Chaos to further their lead, 11-5. It was finally on a buy in the fourth round of the half that Triumph could get on the board off the back of a triple by Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman, but it didn't stop Chaos from imposing their will, 16-6.

steel & co will proceed to the Group A winners’ match

Triumph won the attacking pistol round on Nuke, but were denied a second round, after which Chaos took control on the defending side, putting up 7 rounds uncontested and steamrolling their way to a 13-2 lead at the half. Chaos then converted the second pistol round with a successful defense after planting the bomb on the B site, ending Triumph's wishes of a comeback as they closed it out 16-2.

Chaos is insane. When LAN tournaments comeback, I think they will become a TOP 15 team. I know that it was Triumph's first match with moose, but honestly I think this team looks really bad even on paper and I don't predict them a great future.
