Endpoint and forZe stay alive at DH Open Summer, MAD Lions and Spirit eliminated
Endpoint and forZe have been handed tournament lifelines after dispatching of MAD Lions and Spirit in Group A and B's elimination matches.
Endpoint managed to bounce back from an excruciating loss to BIG in their Group A opening match, in which they let an overtime lead slip on map two before getting wiped out in the decider map, with a 2-1 triumph over MAD Lions to keep their tournament hopes alive. Max "MiGHTYMAX" Heath's troops are now set to battle it out with the loser of BIG and Heroic for a place in the playoffs.
Endpoint failed to get their footing in the best-of-three series versus the Danish squad on Vertigo, where Frederik "acoR" Gyldstrand led a 16-0 decimation with a 2.11 rating, but the British squad recomposed moving forward to claim the series victory with wins on Mirage (16-8) and Train (16-14) and eliminate MAD Lions in last place in Paweł "innocent" Mocek’s debut event.
In Group B’s elimination match, forZe squared off against Spirit in a CIS clash. Andrey "Jerry" Mekhryakov’s men struck first with a solid all-round performance on Inferno before Spirit hit straight back on their map pick of Nuke to level the tie, with a strong T half setting the pace for a 16-5 scoreline.
Dust2 was left to determine the victor and forZe came out swinging with each player pulling their weight on the way to a dominant 16-9 win and a 1.27 team rating to lock down a spot in the group's lower bracket final, where they will face the loser of Complexity and OG.
