Imperial close in on LUCAS1 - Report
The 25-year-old looks poised to continue his career in his homeland, where he will reunite with two former Immortals teammates.
Imperial have expressed an interest in signing free agent Lucas "LUCAS1" Teles, according to a report from DRAFT5. The 25-year-old has been without a team since the end of 2019, when he was released by MIBR, playing only two official matches so far this year, both as a stand-in for FURIA in the North American closed qualifier for IEM Katowice.
LUCAS1 is reportedly being considered as a replacement for Denis "dzt" Fischer, who returned to Imperial at the start of the year after a first stint between September 2018 and April 2019. The Brazilian team have struggled for form since winning the Aorus League 2020 #1 Finals in March, finishing in third place in each of their last five tournaments.
If the move comes to fruition, LUCAS1 will reunite with his former teammates Lincoln "fnx" Lau and Gustavo "SHOOWTiME" Gonçalves. The trio were part of the Games Academy lineup that moved to North America in late 2015 after winning the Golden Chance tournament.
fnx was eventually transferred to Luminosity, but LUCAS1 and SHOOWTiME still enjoyed some success together, winning the CEVO Pro League Season 9 and DreamHack Open Summer 2016 while playing under Tempo Storm and Immortals, respectively. LUCAS1 and fnx got back together two times, in 2017 on Immortals and in 2018 on Não Tem Como.
LUCAS1 could make his first appearance for Imperial on August 19 in the semi-finals of CBCS The Conquest against the winner of the match between Evidence and Havan Liberty. The Brazilian team is also expected to compete in the final South American Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament, which will be hosted by Omelete & Co.
This change would leave Imperial with the following roster:
Alan "AlaNDieg0R" Riveros (coach)
