paiN complete North America move

The Brazilian team have arrived in the United States after undergoing a two-week quarantine period in Mexico.

paiN have arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada, joining MIBR — who are currently bootcamping in Serbia —, FURIA, TeamOne and Yeah on the list of Brazilian teams who have made the move to North America in hopes of playing against higher level competition,

The team were originally slated to move to Canada at the start of the year, but their plans were disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, leaving them to ponder their options in Brazil. Additionally, paiN suffered a second setback when Paulo "land1n" Felipe was unable to secure a visa to enter the United States, with the player being moved to a backup role as the team enlisted the services of 25-year-old Rafael "saffee" Costa, who had previously competed in North America as a part of New England Whalers.

NEKIZ and company will compete in North America

In a tweet, Vinicios "PKL" Coelho revealed that alongside the two-week quarantine period in Mexico, the team had issues solving transportation and housing problems.

In 2019, paiN won six domestic titles and had a Big Event appearance at StarSeries i-League Season 7, and more recently had a runner-up finish to BOOM in Gamers Club Masters V. Having finally completed their move up north, the team will now look to emulate their domestic results from last year against North American competiton.

paiN's roster consists of:

Brazil Vinicios "PKL" Coelho
Brazil Wesley "hardzao" Lopes
Brazil Rodrigo "biguzera" Bittencourt
Brazil Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato
Brazil Rafael "saffee" Costa

Brazil Bruno "ellllll" Ono (coach)

Brazil Paulo "land1n" Felipe (backup)

2020-09-04 02:10
This is actually quite interesting. So why brazilians and 100thieves are allowed to play on NA qualifiers and etc, and other teams dont? I asked Esl, dreamhack and other TOs if there any chance to make for example full CIS roster play in China if they got a bootcamp there - guess what? The answer was no. Double standarts?

'Cause SA doesnt have spots to most of international competition.
2020-09-04 02:33
Lmao dude wtf u even talking about? SA usually gets no qualification tournaments and no good events whatsoever so people are left with nothing to do but play other SA teams or against NA with 150ping. And u compare this to CIS? They can play eu servers with good ping and no problems

2020-09-04 13:00

Yeah, what i meant was exactly playing, right??? I mean f-ing competing, go and try to explain it to far eastern russian with 30 ping on tokyo that they have to play CIS or even EU qualifiers with 120-180 pings or they eventually end up disqualified on asian servers with 30-90 pings. What are they supposed to do? If you say moving to the western part to play with 50 against 5 ping germans is something funny as well, yet its still much better than 150. Moving to western part is also much more expensive than you could imagine, ticket is about 200-700usd while average salary there is about 300 USD. However I was studying in China with some russian fellows, we made a team to play on asian qualifiers, but every time we got into closed qualifiers or equal stage we ended up disqualified, because we are 5 russian citizens and it doesnt matter that we are living in China atm, so what are we supposed to do? Getting back to the point, I meant a team bootcamping in asian region while being in Asia not politic-wise, but geographically
2020-09-05 09:08
6 replies
Wtf you even talking about? I’ve seen plenty of instances when russian citizens living on the far east played asian qualifiers and even tournaments. Take koshak as an instance. Even europeans played them, fejtz is proof of that. If some tier 100 asian tournament didn't let you do that doesn't mean that every tournament forbids it
2020-09-05 12:45
5 replies
You have no idea what youre talking about, first of all, sure literally anyone can compete in China, but with at least 3 chinese citizens in a fucking team and my point was about this. 'plenty of instances' show at least one single case where they did and were not disqualified. You are literally baiting or stupid enough to start a dispute without even reading fucking rules we are talking about at this exact moment - this is beyond ridiculous how im done with people like you who come out of nowhere without any clue trying to prove others that they are wrong
2020-09-05 13:27
3 replies
Lmaoooo you are so dumb, mate. Why the fuck would 3 ruskis be allowed to play in a chinese qualifier when they ALWAYS have their own CIS qualifier? If this was allowed navi could just go play rtr asia and get free #1 spot. On the other hand, SA almost never has it’s own qualifier and when it does, it’s with the worst teams of all, so moving to NA to play qualifiers is increasing the challenge, not making it easy. Use your fucking brain
2020-09-05 15:21

Lmaooo what about 100thieves then?? What about old optic with 5 europeans, hello?
2020-09-05 15:45

100thieves are from the aussie region, which is the exact same as SA???? Optic with 5 euros never played in NA quals for the major. Any more dumb arguments?
2020-09-05 16:11
Surely koshak and vadim were glad to play with 3 chinese guys all the time and never ever considered about getting their more experienced russian friends into teams when they're kicking players, right?
2020-09-05 13:30
Why would SA get quali tournaments? Bunch of tier 5 teams who would bomb out of the main event 15-16th. Just direct invite furia and let mibr get destroyed in na quals, ez as that
2020-09-04 07:46
3 replies
They dont get quali tournaments, so they have to go to NA to develop and try to play those tournaments. I dont understand what the fuck you are talking about
2020-09-04 13:01
2 replies
I'm talking about the fact that most SA teams are garbage, hence almost nobody does SA qualifiers so SA teams have to go north to steal spots in NA qualis which shouldn't be allowed as the qualifier should be for actual NA teams
2020-09-04 19:46
1 reply
They are garbage because everyone in their region is garbage. There is no room for development in SA, which is the main reason for them moving in the first place. Luminosity moved to NA and later won 2 majors. Immortals moved to NA and later got to a major grand final. Tempo storm moved to NA and was a decent top 30 team. Furia moved to NA and are now a top 5-10 team. They were all initially garbage on a global scale, but some of the best in SA. Pain moved to NA and might meet the same fate as those teams in the future

To be fair those Brazilians teams live in US so that’s the reason they’re playing NA qualifiers. MIBR playing EU is an outlier since there’s a pandemic going on. But on their case it’s also possible they’re getting favored because of their huge fanbase, the biggest on the scene. This brings lots os viewers and money to ESL
