HenryG revealed as Cloud9 General Manager, kassad to coach new lineup
The duo will be in charge of building Cloud9's new CS:GO team after the organization announced its decision to phase out their current South African-American lineup.
The move was revealed in Dexerto's interview with Henry "HenryG" Greer on the day after Cloud9 announced that the organization is looking to find a new home for its current lineup around Johnny "JT" Theodosiou and begin rebuilding the entire CS:GO division.
The Brit, who announced his retirement from commentary on Friday, and esteemed coach Aleksandar "kassad" Trifunović, who had been on the market for four months after parting ways with 100 Thieves in late April, are the first two pieces of the new project.
Speaking about his new role and his aspirations, HenryG has revealed that he has "absolute control" of the lineup and its direction as General Manager and shared his ambitions to create a world-class unit capable of challenging for trophies alongside his Serbian teammate.
"C9 have entrusted me with their entire CS:GO dynasty and, honestly, I think that's one of the boldest moves any org has made in a long time," he told Dexerto. "I'm aware there is a certain level of expectation going forward now. Failure simply isn't an option."
Though he is the de facto boss of the project, the 32-year-old stressed that kassad will also have a key role in building the roster as its future coach. The duo has held talks with a number of prospective players, but none have been locked into the lineup for the time being.
