Apeks sign Nasty on short-term deal
The Norwegian team will trial the player for the rest of the year before deciding if he will make the cut for the 2021 lineup.
Apeks have announced that they have completed the signing of Martin "Nasty" Garvik from fellow Norwegian organisation 777 Esports. The newcomer will try out for the team until the rest of the year, filling the vacant spot following the benching of Kristian "akez" Kornbakk after a string of unsatisfactory results.
Apeks revealed that the buyout for their new player was "a symbolic sum", but that this is "a step to professionalize the esports industry in Norway, and create a good cooperation between the Norwegian clubs". Nasty will debut for Apeks on Monday in the derby against Nordavind in the domestic competition Telialigaen Fall 2020.
The newcomer admits that joining the highest-ranked Norwegian squad is a golden opportunity for him to show what he is capable of: "Being a fulltime CS:GO player is a completely new thing to me, and I've got butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it".
Anders Kjær, the sports director of Apeks added that Nasty has shown an "incredible individual talent" but also traits of being a great teammate: "We believe that to achieve greatness, we must build an environment that supports it. That is why we picked up Martin. It is also always great to pick up a new talented player that we can develop, to see how far we can go. He will probably impress a lot of people".
Until his trial period is completed, Nasty will continue playing from home, but should he make it into the team full-time, he is expected to move to Oslo, where the organization is located.
Apeks are now:
Pål "Polly" Kammen (coach)
Kristian "akez" Kornbakk (benched)
