Dignitas bench GeT_RiGhT, Xizt
The Swedish duo have been removed from the starting lineup after a poor run of results in all competitions.
Dignitas have announced that Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and Richard "Xizt" Landström are both heading to the bench with immediate effect. The decision comes after a series of poor results from the Swedish team, who have been outside the top 30 in the world rankings all year long.
"Our recent results have not lived up to our fans' expectations," Dignitas said in a statement. "After discussing with all of our players, we agreed this is the correct step moving forward."
The North American organisation added that it will assist the two players in their transition while they "take the next steps in their iconic careers." On Twitter, GeT_RiGhT revealed that he is "excited to share" his plans, while Xizt said that he "will take some time to reflect and figure out" his next step.
The move represents the first changes to the Dignitas roster since the North American organisation announced its return to Counter-Strike in January 2020 with the signing of the 87-0 and Major-winning NiP quintet, with Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson transitioning to a coaching role and Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli taking over the AWP.
Early results were promising as the team qualified for the Europe Minor — before it was cancelled and moved to an online format —, but things took a turn for the worse after hallzerk missed a month's worth of action due to visa issues while the rest of the team competed in Flashpoint 1 with Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács as a stand-in.
Dignitas picked up just 150 points from ESL One: Road to Rio and failed to qualify for the following Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament, cs_summit 6. The team exited their most recent competition, Nine to Five 4, without a single victory after recording defeats to lvlUP, AGF and Imperial — three teams ranked below them.
The North American organisation added that it will share more information about the future of the team "early next week". Dignitas have been invited to compete in the DreamHack Open Fall closed qualifier, which will take place between September 22 and 25.
Dignitas now have:
