#PlayForBelarus charity tournament announced
An online charity tournament has been set up on World Peace Day, September 21, as a gesture of solidarity with the people of Belarus, where protests have been ongoing since the August 9 presidential election.
Eight teams will fight for a $25,000 prize pool on September 21, while a fundraiser for the Belarusian House Foundation, an organization that supports activities for democracy and human rights as well as the development of civil society in Belarus, will run simultaneously.
The day will kick off at 13:00 with streams in at least eight different languages, featuring a single-elimination bracket with best-of-one quarter-finals and semi-finals that will culminate in a best-of-three grand final.
The event, launched by Polish gaming agency Fantasyexpo, will have three Polish squads in attendance, PACT, HONORIS and Illuminar, as well as the German-Polish side Sprout.
The highest ranked Belarusian squad, Nemiga, will also be in the fray, as well as three European teams, Endpoint, SAW and Budapest Five.
