FURIA repeat win over EG to reach ESL Pro League Season 12 North America grand final

The Brazilians made it two wins from two against the North American side in ESL Pro League Season 12 to convincingly book their place in the grand finals.

FURIA handed Evil Geniuses their only loss of the group stage in an impressive 2-0 against the North America giants when they met earlier in the tournament, marking the Brazilian’s first series win over the core of EG since January 2019. The victory also ended a period of dominance from Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz’s troops, who were on a 14-series win streak before their encounter.

This time around, FURIA brought an even higher level to the matchup. Spectacular showings from each member of the squad set the team on a unstoppable path on Inferno with a solid offence before going on to put up a stellar defence on Nuke to swiftly conclude the series.

The Brazilian squad came out of the gates hot on their map pick of Inferno in an attempt to replicate their past success and blazed into the lead. The unrelenting T side aggression from FURIA enabled the team to cement themselves in pole position throughout the half as they bulldozed their way to a flawless 12-0 advantage. Evil Geniuses could only muster a mere two rounds before FURIA snatched the final round heading into halftime, with the trio of Andrei "arT" Piovezan, Yuri "yuurih" Santos and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato wreaking havoc.

Evil Geniuses hit back swiftly in the second half by acquiring three consecutive rounds after losing the pistol. However, the score difference proved to be too extreme as Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo soon wrapped the map up 16-5 with an ace.

VINI's impact was off the charts for FURIA

Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov kicked off Nuke with a triple kill to start EG’s T side positively, however, FURIA instantly replied with three of their own to take an early 3-1 lead. The Brazilian’s defence was unbreakable for numerous rounds moving forward as the advantage was briskly extended by seven. Ethan "Ethan" Arnold provided a beacon of hope with a quad kill to put his team on four rounds, but the North American side was unable to convert the final round before the break.

Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte was activated once Evil Geniuses switched to CT alongside an already performing Ethan, but the rest of the team’s impact was successfully muted by FURIA, whose entire squad was delivering in their respective roles. EG added a few rounds to their tally before the Brazilian squad turned their performance up a gear to emphatically claim a 16-7 map win and send Evil Geniuses to the lower bracket.

Furia is undoubtedly the best in NA right now and perhaps the only NA team that can give the top EU teams a run for their money. And well not to forget, they are the shining present & bright future of Brazilian CSGO.

FURIA is a Brazilian team that is competing in NA, but that does not make them an NA team. Everyone seems to not understand the difference between a team's origins and the region that they are competing in. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just correcting a technicality that is often misunderstood.
2020-09-24 23:56

The concept of regions from cs go is about where the teams play, so i think that furia is the best NA team Ex: ESL Pro League NA have teams that play on NA, not teams from USA, México and Canada

That's not how it works though...a team doesn't become something based on where they are playing. That's like saying if TYLOO played in Europe, then they're a European team. No...they're an Asian team. The same thing is being applied here. FURIA is a Brazilian team and will never be anything different unless they drop the Brazilian roster.

+1 I don't know why people are trying to make Furia a NA team. When LG got their first major I saw a lot of NA guys saying that: " Now we have one major, the brazilians play here" But everyone from all the places said No, Brazil got the major, not NA. Anyway Furia isn't the best NA team. Furia is the brazilian team that is the best team of all Americas atm. :)

I think it's a tie between FURIA and EG. I say this because both teams are inconsistent and one day will struggle to beat a team in a BO3, but the next day will lose to a team substantially worse than them. Nonetheless, I think FURIA is the best Brazilian team and is doing a damn good job of showing everyone that they belong at the top. We need more Brazilian teams to move to NA to diversify our events and to push other NA teams to become better. I think that having "outsiders" (not an insult by any means, just the term for players not from the country / region that they are competing in) taking down national teams (players from the same country / region that they are competing in) will help them to realize "Hey, we need to step our game up ; we're getting destroyed by outsiders / the "away" team.
2020-09-25 16:36
I am well aware of that bruh. I called them a NA team in context of the region they are playing and of course its Brazilian based on its origin.
