vENdetta takes over as Dignitas head coach, friberg assumes IGL role

Robin "Fifflaren" Johansson will move to a managerial role within Dignitas, becoming the VP of Esports, as the organization restructures its CS:GO division.

Dignitas has announced a new batch of changes in their team, with Fifflaren stepping down from the head coach role and being replaced by the team's former analyst Halvor "vENdetta" Gulestøl, while Adam "friberg" Friberg took over as the team's in-game leader.

The news comes following Dignitas benching two of the "Original Five" NiP members, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and Richard "Xizt" Landström, ending the legendary squad's reunion under a new banner. The team is currently on the look for a duo to complete their lineup ahead of Flashpoint 2, which is scheduled for November.

The Norwegian joined Dignitas as an analyst in February

On Dignitas' YouTube, Fifflaren explained that the cancellation of the Major was the trigger for the team's overhaul, but added that changes kicked-off after their participation in the Eden Arena Malta Vibes cups, when friberg started calling the shots in-game.

The 32-year-old said that the team "did like to play a little bit of a looser play style" back in 2015, but that it became apparent more structure was needed in 2020 than Xizt was providing. friberg, who in-game led OpTic and Heroic in the past, provided that to the team after the calling responsibilities were handed to him. The 28-year-old Swede, formerly known for his work as an entry rifler, will continue calling the shots as the team gets rebuilt and two new players are added to the lineup.

During the period of big changes, Fifflaren decided to take a step back and "think about his own health". Previously, his workload included both coaching the team, waking up at 2 AM local time in Los Angeles, and participating in organizational meetings after it. Now the latter, managerial part will become his focal point as VP of Esports for Dignitas.

To replace him, Dignitas has promoted vENdetta to the head coach position after the Norwegian spent seven months as the team's analyst. "When Fifflaren pitched me to the rest of the guys they were pretty open to it", vENdetta explains, as he follows the likes of Janko "YNk" Paunović and Jason "moses" O'Toole in transferring from an on-air talent to a coaching role.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge, obviously still gonna be learning the ropes as we go," the Norwegian said, "But I feel like I've picked up a little bit from Fifflaren already just from sitting in on practices and watching how he has gone about his role as a coach."

vENdetta also shared that Dignitas haven't signed anyone yet, but they are talking to potential prospects to complete the team. Fifflaren added that, because of the Major being cancelled "it is also a bit of a wild west a lot of people making moves at the same time". Finalizing the talk, Fifflaren stated that the team's goal is to complete the lineup for Flashpoint 2 and they aim to win the event.

Dignitas is now:

Sweden Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg
Sweden Adam "friberg" Friberg
Norway Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli

Norway Halvor "vENdetta" Gulestøl (coach)

Sweden Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund (benched)
Sweden Richard "Xizt" Landström (benched)

All these casters and analysts are moving to new jobs. When will Pimp finally go?
2020-09-25 19:28
idk but with his quality tips and tricks every single team (from low tier) would be definitely a top 10 team

Why do I have the feeling, that FaZe would sign him?
2020-09-25 19:39
Hmm it would be interesting pick I think. I can imagine that tbh. Im not laughing at him and for me that wouldnt be a stupid move cuz he has a lot of experience and knowledge about this game. Ynk should be kicked as fast as possible, so... Anything is possible.

not to disrespect you or pimp, but in my eyes hes the worst analyst from the high tier ones. Like even when he was still playing activly he was not the smartest player. I mean the guy is not dumb, but I would not want him as my coach tbh. too much ego
2020-09-25 20:03
you know pimp was approached by astralis to replace glaive as igl around 1.5 years ago? he declined to join though (atleast thats what he told in his stream)

It might be more of a NiKo problem than YnK... NiKo seems to want total control so it might be tough to do any sort of change

But who do you replace YNK with? Kassad could have worked but hes in C9 now. I dont see any other coach working with nikos ego
2020-09-25 21:51
Its rotten to the core. They need to restructure big time and start from scratch. They have the players, but they just aren't making it work.

I completly agree. The core with Rain, broky and Kjaerbye could work. Niko and Cold have to go tho. too much ego for that team
2020-09-25 21:56
I don't know about cold. Something is not working for him in that team, as we know he's much better than what he's showing. Thoorin's video on the subject of NiKo igling made some very good points and I'd agree. NiKo cannot be an igl any longer and has to go.

Agreed. Nikos IGLing was and is shit. Maybe I am biased against cold in a way, because ive never really liked his playstyle, but Niko definetly has to go

How though? Its not like the swedish or norwegian scene is booming with talent right now. I do not se any good pickups avalible right now. Unless they go international wich would be super boring, every team going international it feels like. I hope not.
2020-09-25 23:09
Tons of Swedes/Norweigans FREEEEE Radifaction disco doplan grux RAIN/JKAEM (DISBAND TEAMS?) TENZKIIIIIIIIIII KINDA FREEEBIEEE DEAD TEAM CROMEN/HARR3 OLOF/DENNIS EZ BUYOUT
2020-09-25 23:24
Yes there are people but hardly some exciting names here. Disco is good, im a fan. But benching gtr to then get doplan isnt really optimal, either get the same performance or slightly better. Radifaction keeps getting kicked from worse and worse teams again and again, hot pickup? Nah, about as hot as them picking up lets say moddii. Grux, yeah okay that a potential pickup. Great entry fragger, would defenitely defenitely prefered lekro though.. either as igl or entry or both. Rain? Jakaem? cmon, how realistic is that.. Jkaem would be nice but no chance of that happening unless he straight up gets kicked from 100t. Tenzki, yeah that would be nice i think, but would force the team to speak english.. Cromen, nope.harre nopp. Getting older players in a slump like olof or dennis, they might as well stick with xizt and gtr. +lekro+jkaem, would be awsome but unrealistic.
2020-09-26 00:48
f0rest hallzerk friberg disco doplan//dennis//marcelious grux//olofmeister//Radifaction ez top10^^ with either of these duos. Also, disco/dennis could igl instead of beastberg

I think it's a really interesting thing with taking vENdetta as a coach, it's risky but I can see it working out. friberg is one of the most experienced players in the game, I think he can be a good IGL. Still I would prefer option of him being benched aswell and Dignitas rebuilding around f0rest and hallzerk. But we will see, maybe as an IGL he will be better.

They're younger than these two twin-gremlins (27 years old, and no achievements, by the way), plus cromen and Svedjehed wouldn't destroy their team by bringing djL, Baaten and others to the roster again and again.
