Groups announced for IEM New York North America, Europe, CIS
Teams competing in each of the regional tournaments were drawn into two groups, with Cloud9 being a notable omission in the North American competition.
ESL has announced the group stage distribution for their upcoming event, IEM New York, which will take place across three different regions.
In addition to the $60,000 and $50,000 prize pool, respectively, the North American and CIS tournaments will give up Regional Major Ranking (RMR) points, but some big names will skill the competition due to roser issues.

Alongside MIBR, who lost their spot in the tournament due to the RMR points reset, and Gen.G, who pulled out of the event due to roster issues, Cloud9 will also miss the North American event, being replaced by Mythic. The news supports a report from Monday, which linked Ricky "floppy" Kemery with the organization's new, European team, and put the future under the North American lineup under question.
IEM New York 2020 North America groups:
Vitality, BIG, and G2 will be among the eight competing teams in Europe, with the two French sides placed in group A. The prize pool for the tournament is larger than in North America and CIS, $140,000, but lacks the RMR points as DreamHack Open Fall will serve as the Regional Major Ranking event on the Old Continent.
IEM New York 2020 Europe groups:
Lastly, Natus Vincere will be looking to cruise to a playoff spot in group A, where FORZE and Virtus.pro are their toughest opposition, with Spirit looking similarly comfortable in group B, where Nemiga and Winstrike are hoping to upset.
IEM New York 2020 CIS groups:
IEM New York Europe will run on October 6-11, the North American portion will start at the same date but finish only on October 18, with the CIS competition scheduled last, for October 13-25.
