BOOM support Apoka following ESIC ban

BOOM will continue to work with the Brazilian coach after he received a ban for over five months by ESIC.

Alessandro "Apoka" Marcucci was handed a ban by ESIC on Monday after being found to have used the coaching bug in two full matches and in single rounds in four more. His punishment was reduced by 85%, to 5.4 months, as he was awarded concessions for coming forward ahead of the announcement of ESIC's inquiry into the use of the coaching bug and for assisting with the investigation.

The Indonesian organization has expressed its support towards the Brazilian coach, who denied any wrongdoing shortly after the announcement of his ban, as he claimed that he hadn't been present on his computer during the two instances in which he remained in the bug for the entire match.

BOOM retain Apoka's services

"We firmly believe that Apoka did not intentionally use this bug to gain an unfair advantage," a statement from the organization reads. "Apoka himself fully cooperated with [ESIC's] investigation and has explained his side of the story on his streams, where he explains a failure to disconnect due to his not being on his PC."

"Moving forward, while we are disheartened with ESIC's decision to penalize Apoka, we respectfully accept and will comply with their decision. However, we would like to make clear our support for Apoka and our decision to stand by him and continue working with him."

Apoka is allowed to continue working with the team behind the scenes despite his ban, but he will be unable to enter the server and communicate with the team in any way during official matches at ESIC member events until the ban expires.

BOOM's news follows several other instances in which banned coaches have kept their jobs in their respective organizations, including OG's Casper "ruggah" Due, FURIA's Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira, Hard Legion's Sergey "starix" Ischuk, Heroic's Nicolai "HUNDEN" Petersen, and AGO's Mikołaj "miNirox" Michałków.

But apoka I trust, he organized more than half of the 1.6 cs championships in Brazil, He was the one who banned aspx, the famous Brazilian hacker. He's an excellent person and very humble, I'm sure he wouldn't do that.

So basically all orgs are supporting their coaches who cheated? Well, nice to know. CS is in the good path, definitely. Keep it up, not too long before this whole bubble bursts.

Nope, the match he is accused of using the bug, he was not on his pc, he joined the server and stayed behind his players standing up, he doesnt even move the camera, and after the game ends he gets automatically disconnected because he was not on his pc. And he has a video on his youtube from that time proving it where you can see his computer with his monitor turned off during the game

I can share a bit, most of these bans AFAIK are from failure to follow protocol which is reporting the bug happened and disconnecting when the bug happens. (you're still in the server with a 'bug'). It's very different than 'exploiting' the bug. If you see the clip, the bug happened at Tspawn when BOOM is T side, I mean idk what 'unfair' advantage you get from that, but you get what I mean.
2020-09-30 18:23
I agree man Like, this protocol didn't exist, so it was hard for them to follow They say like the coach pressed up up down down left right left right B A and unlocked the secret coach bug
2020-09-30 18:44
I believe they found some cases where it did happen intentionally tho

Those people dont want to know if cheated or not. They just want a excuse to spread the hate, and they have. So any argument is ignored by them

2020-09-30 19:02
Whoever says that apoka is a cheater doesn't understand shit about the history of cs, both in 1.5 and in cs: go
2020-09-30 21:34
sorry, you can make a difference but for me, all caught coaches are cheater 1 round or 100. The only correct way is to call an admin and clear the situation at that moment. When you can't do that you calculate to play not fair and that is enough. There are so many coaches that act always correctly, they deserve support not the cheater.
2020-09-30 22:36
Ok, but apoka was turned at the base looking at the wall, and he really wouldn't do that I know what this guy is like, the guy is almost 20 years cs , why would he do that ????? dead and guerri were banned and deserved, but apoka, he would never do that, I say that as a person who accompanied his entire journey, you know ???

Heroic, Furia, OG , Hard legion, Boom, ENce So far all cheater support orgs
2020-09-30 18:00
Add BIG to this list
2020-09-30 18:45
No german Coach banned so stfu
2020-09-30 18:48
and that bug?
2020-09-30 19:12
If you ban BIG for using Jump Bug you have to ban all players cuz the bug was a direct part of the game and got trigger all the times. Valve said also it is a part of the game until we fix it. So don't matter what u think. Valve decides.
2020-09-30 19:14
by that retarded logic the coach bug and pixel walking is part of the game too and nobody should be banned. valve didn't ban BIG to save face because BIG abused that bug which was basically like an wallhack in every match that they played in the qualifier, they eliminated a bunch of teams by abusing the bug then used it in the major itself too. if valve was to punish BIG for that it would become a shitstorm because they would have to REDO the qualifier to compensate for teams that they beat while abusing the bug.

2020-09-30 17:57
Didn't Apoka get his ban reduced because he admitted to it? Then he claims afterwards that he is innocent? Either validate his claims of innocence or revoke the ban length reduction.
2020-09-30 18:21
Apoka is probably the most innocent out of all the banned coaches
2020-09-30 18:25
Honestly, as innocent as Guerri and ruggah, very unfortunate that they were banned.
2020-09-30 18:45

Apoka is a legit dude, it's been 20 years since he's into competitive CS, and never have someone accused him of something like this. Not to mention, he always stood behind them boys. It's a shame to see that ESIC doesn't have enough evidence and has to apply a ban based on the probability of him using the bug to cheat, instead of real tangible evidences.
