Natus Vincere send Complexity to ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe lower bracket
Natus Vincere and Complexity made it to the ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe upper bracket semi-final with 2-1 victories over MOUZ and ENCE, respectively. The last time the two teams met was at ESL One Cologne, where Complexity took the CIS side out 2-0 with Owen "oBo" Schlatter still in their ranks, although this time around they weren’t able to repeat the feat and it was NAVI who took the series without dropping a map.
Natus Vincere, who haven't lost a game since their group stage defeat to ENCE early on in the tournament, will now proceed through the upper bracket after defeating Complexity 2-0, and will meet the winner of BIG vs. Heroic in the last upper bracket match before the grand final.
Complexity on the other hand will go on to face one of the tournament heavyweights, Astralis, in the lower bracket, as Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and company lost their derby match against Heroic in the opening round of the upper bracket before beating Spirit in their first lower bracket series.
Complexity went for a quick A play on the attacking side of Nuke in the first round but were swiftly dealt by Natus Vincere. The momentum shifted in the second round as Benjamin "blameF" Bremer and company were able to win the forcebuy to go up 3-1. Once the CIS side were able to get their hands on rifles the tables turned as they went on to win eight rounds in a row to take a 9-3 lead before giving up a round on their way to an 11-4 half.
A 1vs4 clutch by William "RUSH" Wierzba in the second pistol round kept Complexity alive. Natus Vincere once again took their first buy of the half, but another clutch the round after, this time a 1vs2 by Valentin "poizon" Vasilev, gave Complexity another lifeline. Their early heroics weren’t enough in the end, however, as Natus Vincere went on to close their rivals’ map pick, 16-10.
Complexity started off Train on the CT side, but it was NAVI who took the first round, but three Desert Eagle headshots by Kristian "k0nfig" Wienecke gave his team the second round. The two squads stayed close early on, tying 4-4, but it was finally Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and company who were able to get the best of the defenders winning the half 9-6.
Natus Vincere retook the B site and defused the bomb to claim the second pistol round, hitting double digits and clearing the path to a 2-0 series. Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov’s men didn’t look back on the defense, always a step ahead of their foes to close out the map and match 16-7.
