Jamppi steps in for HAVU as xseveN is loaned out to ENCE for DH Open Fall

The two teams will temporarily swap players as ENCE will begin their campaign in the RMR tournament.

HAVU have announced that Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen will play for the team in the near future as a replacement for Sami "xseveN" Laasanen, who has been loaned out to ENCE for the duration of DreamHack Open Fall.

The Finnish AWPer is ineligible to compete in the upcoming Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament due to his VAC ban. According to HAVU, his stand-in period will cover "as many matches as possible" within the limits of his other obligations with ENCE.

Jamppi will temporarily play for HAVU

DreamHack Open Fall will run from October 15-25 and will have $115,000 and a spot at the IEM Global Challenge on offer in addition to RMR points. ENCE are currently fourth in the European RMR standings with 2155 points after finishing top-eight at the StarLadder Major, 9th in ESL One: Road to Rio and 10th in cs_summit 6.

xseveN was on ENCE's books between April 2018 and August 2020, though he spent the last four months of that tenure in a backup role following Jamppi's signing, only playing the two RMR tournaments. He has averaged a 1.07 rating since joining HAVU, in which he reunited with his former teammates Eetu "sAw" Saha and Lasse "ZOREE" Uronen.

HAVU are currently competing in LOOT.BET Season 8, in which they have a 1-0 record after beating Galaxy Racer in their opening match. They are widely expected to receive an invite to compete in the closed qualifier for Flashpoint 2 - scheduled for October 12-14 - after finishing in third place in the first edition of the league to pocket a cheque of $100,000.

The Finnish team will field the following lineup until xseveN return from his loan stint with ENCE:

Finland Eetu "sAw" Saha
Finland Lasse "ZOREE" Uronen
Finland Joonas "doto" Forss
Finland Olli "sLowi" Pitkänen
Finland Elias "Jamppi" Olkkonen (stand-in)

Are you being serious right now, or did nobody actually teach you that your actions have consequences? These are concepts that the vast majority of people can understand well by age 10 and certainly very well by their teens. *Edit: The reality is that he would've understood but made a choice to cheat anyway. I have no doubt he regrets it now ;-)

actually in my country there is a thing called doli incapax which deems children aged 10-14 incapable of forming the intent to commit a crime or tort. if the court of law thinks that a person aged 10-14 cant understand that their crime (cheating) may have life repurcussions they won't charge them unless it can be proven the child knew. (which jamppi didn't)

I'm going to assume you're not fake flagging in which case we're from the same country. The law gives the possibility to charge a child as young as 10 but errs on the side of caution, as all of our laws tend to (see the Blackstone ratio), and requires proof that the child understood the seriousness of their actions. It's an extremely important law too, a criminal conviction can impact a child's future to a severely destructive degree. That argument is invalid, however, because fortunately for Jamppi he's not being charged with any crime and as such, the penalty for his actions aren't criminal and haven't destroyed or severely impacted his life. He's still free to do absolutely whatever he wants, except one very specific thing, he can't play in a CS:GO Major.

do you think jamppi understood the consequences of his actions when he decided to cheat in a video game at 13-14 y/o or whenever he did? personally i dont think anyone who did at that age and then has the opportunity for csgo to be their primary source of income would still go back in time and cheat

I don't think it matters in the slightest if he knew about the penalty or not, I have zero doubt that he knew cheating was disruptive and wrong, and the penalty for cheating itself is not unreasonable imo. I definitely agree that most people in his situation would love to take the cheating back, but unfortunately that isn't how life works. Most people receiving any significant penalty for anything, ever in history, would love to take their actions back. I'm sure the people whose games he ruined by cheating want those hours back too.

He was 14 already by the way, so he was above the age for doli incapax to apply and even our legal system would assume he knew what he was doing and hold him responsible for his actions.
2020-10-12 13:56
If you are kqyl and cheated as a pro player, and potentially in official matches, you deserve to be banned, but cheating as a kid shouldnt be equal to lifelong punishment

A kid will never think about it, they don't think "am I going to dedicate my life to this game", if someone encourages them to cheat they will cheat because they don't give 2 fucks about getting banned unless they have skins or something to lose. you are applying the adult idea of "cheating ruins the game for others" in the mind of immature kids who frankly don't care, they want to have fun in a game. and on top of that, jamppi didn't get himself banned, he has repeatedly said that it wasn't him that cheated. so this logic that you're using makes no sense on top of that.

Why ENCE don't make 6-player roster for this kind of situations?!

That's what they had before Havu acquired xseveN. They'll probably need to find new 6th for the next Majors (assuming jamppi will be forever banned), as this arrangement of borrowing xseveN is only for this cycle.

Damn this is stupid. Cs coaches basically walling for 100+ games in pro scene and gets 2-3 year ban. Jamppi cheat in matchmaking as 14 year old kid gets life ban.

Valve needs to realize that the punishment has to fit the crime. I actually feel for the guy considered that he wasnt near being a pro. If they keep up with this its going to ruin the game. Even so, people are litterarly stealing money and they dont get fined nor punished as hard as someone that probably just made some people mad in a MM match. And who the fuck cares about MM anyways, its filled with garbage to begin with.
