FunPlus Phoenix in talks to sign GODSENT roster

The Chinese organization is looking to scoop the top-20 European lineup as it aims to return to Counter-Strike.

FunPlus Phoenix is in advanced conversations with GODSENT about acquiring the Swedish organization's CS:GO lineup, sources have told HLTV.org.

The possibility of GODSENT selling their team was first reported by DBLTAP earlier on Tuesday, with FunPlus Phoenix's interest coming after the Flashpoint-member team announced Petar "⁠peca⁠" Marković as their General Manager.

The Montenegrin star could be donning the FunPlus Phoenix jersey soon

peca, the former coach of Valiance and manager of CR4ZY, revealed at the start of October that FunPlus Phoenix would not be taking part in Flashpoint 2 despite being one of the competition's founding members as their focus was on building a "promising, long-lasting roster" for 2021.

That process could be expedited if the deal with GODSENT goes through as the European team is currently ranked 19th in the world after peaking at No.15 in September. GODSENT's squad are also in a good place in the Regional Major Ranking as they currently sit in sixth place in Europe with 3081 points.

FunPlus Phoenix, whose League of Legends team won last year's World Championship title in Paris, entered CS:GO in March, when they confirmed the signing of Heroic's roster ahead of Flashpoint 1. However, the deal fell through after Patrick "⁠es3tag⁠" Hansen agreed to join Astralis on a free transfer in July, leaving the Chinese organisation without a team just one match into the league's Phase 1 stage. FPX ended up recruiting the Bad News Bears roster for Phase 2 after negotiations with the Swole Patrol lineup also broke down.

If the deal goes through, FunPlus Phoenix will have the following team:

They might pick up other players. GuardiaN, shipz, hAdji, bodyy, kRYSTAL if they decide to kick him. Or just buy out Bubzkji from Astralis if it would be possible and you could build around him with GuardiaN and kRYSTAL.

He dont need to frag as well as the other four. if the team as good synergy. With a hyper-agressive awper, they cant have the team consistent that they had , even with Maikelele , who is a not the best passive awper , but at least knows what to do sometimes.

if u have 4 teammates who are good fraggers like on mous/faze, maybe your IGL doesn't need to be a good fragger. but in GODSENT's case, they still need IGL who can frag too. not just brain.

Yep. I mean its working out on MDL / 9to5 level of tourneys. But definitely not on flashpoint. Even mous & faze who had IGL with 0.90++ rating still struggle against tier 2-3 teams.

Yeah they would be in if they didn't threw inferno from 12-6. EPL is maybe better for their ranking & development, but they're not good enough to win/top4.
