BIG, OG, fnatic round out Flashpoint 2 team list

The invited trio brings a competitive boost to the $1,000,000 tournament set to start on November 10.

The three European teams currently ranked seventh, eighth, and twelfth in the world according to HLTV.org's ranking will join qualified teams forZe and Virtus.pro as well as seven out of eight founding teams of Flashpoint: Gen.G, MAD Lions, c0ntact, Dignitas, Cloud9, Envy, and MIBR.

As previously announced, the currently teamless FunPlus Phoenix will sit out the upcoming second season, with its new General Manager, Petar "peca" Marković, stating earlier this month that the organization doesn't want to make any rushed decisions when it comes to signing a new roster.

fnatic enter the second season of Flashpoint

The tournament will be played online, with all teams residing in Europe, and will kick off with a GSL group stage on November 10-22. The playoffs, whose format is unknown, will follow after a week-long break on November 30-December 6.

Flashpoint 2 will be streamed from B Site's studio in London, with Duncan "Thorin" Shields and Christopher "MonteCristo" Mykles as the leading figures of the on-air talent crew of the tournament's broadcast, which promises to provide "best-in-class production, commentary, and storytelling."

The tournament will bring together several teams who have gone through recent overhauls. Cloud9 will debut at the event with their completely new lineup led by Alex "ALEX" McMeekin, while MAD Lions, Gen.G, c0ntact, Dignitas, Envy, and MIBR are all set to showcase new additions, some of whom are still yet to be announced.

"We’re pumped to be back with Flashpoint 2 to further deliver on our promise for raw and unfiltered entertainment for our fans with the largest prize pools of 2020 with arguably the coolest trophy in all of sports," MonteCristo, Commissioner of Flashpoint, said in a statement. "We’re eager to watch our storylines unfold including the emergence of BIG and OG this year, how the rebuilt rosters of some of our teams such as Cloud9 will compete and if MAD Lions can defend its title."

The second season of Flashpoint boasts the following twelve teams:

In fairness, they're enticing more competitive teams to join. Hopefully, they start to challenge ESL so both organisations improve tournament structure for viewers and players. None of this BS where games overlap like with VP or two tournaments running on the same day like now with CIS PL and DH.

mibr useless team anyways. BR talent pool is bad rn and you aint spending the mils for furia. Just be like FPX and buy a godsent or better team and revert to Immortals. Infinitely more successful in Immortals than in mibr. At least you almost won a major.

BR talent pool is good when you talk about raw talent But with the lack of structure here many talents didn't even get to have a chance on any team These big teams should come back to Brazil to bring development to the esports scene here in Brazil, but they just run to NA

Wrong choice of words on my part We have structure but it's expensive A good PC is at least R$ 10k, a monitor $4k and with the other peripherals more $2k A good internet plan is like $200k (like we have good and cheaper internet plans, but you pay like 120 Mb/s and receive 50, so to receive the 120 you have to pay 400) And you don't earn money straight, so many people have to get a job and stop playing

im not sure if youve noticed, but we have this thing called covid19, which has been a major pandemic throughout the year. having flashpoint in the USA would mean hardly any teams would be able to play. I also don't see how hosting an european tournament would make them compete less with ESL. If anything, it would make them a bigger competitor during the online season.

Fnatic Big and OG are a solid upgrade for sure, now just imagine if C9’s roster ends up working out (teaching top 15) and MiBR gets their shit together- this could turn into a high tier 2 low tier one tournament in no time — which means Flashpoint 3 will then host even better teams. And bring in better players.

flashpoint will slowly but surely gather better players and line-ups. will only get better from here on out :) the way the tournament is presented is also much more fun than what ESL does. FP has top quality content and ESL just has a few min of analysis desk, which never seems to change. Feel like ESL are doing the bare minimum and FP are actually trying to make it a good overall show.
2020-10-22 17:42
2 replies
Yea, FP3 will begin what I think will be an exodus of a few really good teams into the league— which will in turn draw in the top in Free Agents who will want to sign on with teams who are in this league. My guess is by FP4 this will be the equivalent of a mini major and with how much freedom Monte gives out to his vocal talent a lot of the big casters will want in as well. I think this time next year it won’t even be question which Tournament is the better between EPL and FP

I really hope so. ESL has been trying to 'force' teams to sign with them by having their own ESL ranking which decides invites. The ranking is only based on ESL events attended afaik. Which means that not attending Pro league might result in not receiving an invite to tournaments. They might try and push such things harder the closer FP becomes to rivaling EPL. Thankfully, good teams will always be invited to ESL (esl dont really have a choice). So if the best teams join FP-orgs (or their orgs buy-in), its definitely possible. If I were a pro player and I'd see how much the new c9 line-up is making, Id heavily consider signing with a FP-org when my contract runs out. Afaik, many teams in the top10 don't make close to some of those salaries.
2020-10-22 20:20
Flashpoint is a fun tournament. Only issue with previous one was the low quality teams. It seems to gain some fraction on attracting big names now. That is a good news. I wish Mouz has joined but they signed the deal with ESL so that ain't gonna happen.

How come that this tournament have a 1m price, but dont have any top teams in it? And all the tournaments with the top teams is much lower?

2020-10-22 18:19
still not tier1, but at least there are a few top teams, making this a tier1.5 event. with the big prizepool, I could see flashpoint 3 easily rivaling esl now. I can't wait to watch!
2020-10-22 18:19
Tier 1 cash prize Tier 2-3 teams
2020-10-22 18:23
nice!!! looking really good
2020-10-22 18:26
Flashpoint 1 only had meme teams, this time it looks solid. Still not where the prize money suggests it should be but maybe for flashpoint 3 it will be there.

Not going to be easy but I give the roster a shot for sure. It'll depend on how well they all gel and how quickly. Normally you'd like to give them three to six months to really see their level.

Yeah I mean they could definately win for sure, but I don't think we should expect it. If it was the same teams as flashpoint 1 they probably would have won.
2020-10-23 19:30
No Furia , no real CS
2020-10-22 19:09
MIBR LOL these contracts...

It's for the best while Covid is around. You'll get to see Liquid and EG and Furia all on LAN in December more then likely. Which is going to be great. Can't wait to see these teams level. Would not be surprised if Furia won the whole thing. Or Liquid has a massive resurgence back on LAN.

OG and BIG over Mouz...lmfao
2020-10-22 19:36
Flashpoint is making moves. FP3 might actually be a really good tournament. Hell this is going to be a good tournament. Just played online unfortunately so who gives a fuck. Oh well.
2020-10-22 19:37
ok now We are talking Flashpoint, this list of team is a whole different thing, now You have my interest. Flashpoint 1 was trash.

BIG is showing a little bit of life left in them, but overall I don't like this invite. OG is showing potential and I think I think they deserved this invite. fnatic is showing some potential, but overall I don't like this invite aswell. Atleast OG will have a chance to show what they are made of.
2020-10-22 19:45
Really nice to have lots of good team for this event!
2020-10-22 19:49

2020-10-22 20:20
Flashpoint suddenly looks alot nicer! Season 3 could have stacked potential now when 3 big teams joined in.
2020-10-22 20:38
Well as an American I must root for geng but I think OG will win
2020-10-22 20:53
