olofmeister returns to FaZe's starting lineup as stand-in

The two-time Major winner will play his first match in over five months on Thursday against BIG.

FaZe will play their next matches with Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer as a stand-in, the North American organisation has announced. He will be stepping into Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač's shoes after the Bosnian completed on Wednesday a transfer to G2 in what was "one of the biggest signings in CS:GO history", according to the European organisation.

olofmeister returns to action after stepping down from the roster in mid-May to recover from fatigue. Initially, his spot was filled by Aurimas "⁠Bymas⁠" Pipiras, but the Lithuanian was replaced by former Astralis and North member Markus "⁠Kjaerbye⁠" Kjærbye in August.

olofmeister will play for FaZe again

olofmeister has been a part of FaZe since August 2017, when he completed a transfer from fnatic, with whom he had won two Major titles in 2015. He struggled for consistency during the first five months of this year, averaging a 0.94 rating across all competitions.

The announcement of olofmeister's return comes on the same day the team also parted ways with coach Janko "⁠YNk⁠" Paunović, who admitted that he wasn't successful in fixing the "issues in and out of the game" that have been plaguing the team in recent times.

FaZe have been placed in Group B of the BLAST Premier Fall Series alongside Vitality, Complexity and BIG. It is unclear whether olofmeister will also be playing in IEM Beijing-Haidian, which will take place between November 6 and 22.

FaZe will field the following lineup in the BLAST Premier Fall Series:

as stand in? As far as I know he was leaving for a period of time due to fatigue, not permanently. And he is still under contract with FaZe. So instead of looking for 5th why not continuing with olofmeister?

That fatigue and burnout was just to show to public the real reason was to find a better 5th fir the team as olof could perform on roles assigned to him If olof was burned out he would habe returned after player break and they never had signed kjaerbye Now when NiKo left and they need a player thats why olof is coming back and they surely will remove him afterwards ig

Yea I think that's fair. It's just, personally think if people regard someone highly and their individual performance was exceptional, that's enough for them to be a legend. That, of course, doesn't mean they necessarily won and accomplished the most things Doubtful that niko can ever achieve, in his remaining career, the success that olof had in his prime, with fnatic. Honestly speaking, its gonna be quite difficult for Faze specially with the sudden change of IGL and other roles along with adjusting their play style as per the sudden player change. BIG definitely shouldn't lose this. If in case Faze manages to do this, its gonna be troll of the week by 'Trollofmeister'.

Generally speaking, this is exciting for FaZe. I really believe Niko has been holding them back for a long time. FaZe was so much better before they got him. He was such a good player that, instead of trusting his team mates, he took over the IGL role which was stupid because he was way better as a fragger. Then he took over awping, which was also stupid because he's a way better rifler. Honestly, FaZe has now been unlocked from a bad situation. Can't wait to see how they improve.
