MAD Lions overrun Dignitas in Flashpoint 2 Group A opener
The winners of Flashpoint 1 kicked off the new season of the tournament with a strong showing against the revamped Dignitas squad.
MAD Lions were in control of the match against Dignitas through and through, kicking it off with a 16-6 victory on their opponents pick, Overpass, and closing it out 16-10 on Nuke, showing some complacency after a massive 15-5 CT-side lead.
Frederik "acoR" Gyldstrand and co., who won Flashpoint 1 in April with a grand final victory over MIBR, have recently changed two players, adding Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen and Ismail "refrezh" Ali to the lineup. Things seem to be going well for the Danes, as they took down fnatic in IEM Beijing-Haidian on Tuesday and have now lived up to the favorite status against Dignitas.
The initial group stage victory sees MAD Lions one match win away from the playoffs, with another game against fnatic or a meeting with c0ntact on the card. Meanwhile, the Swedish-Norwegian mixture led by Adam "friberg" Friberg fell flat in their second match together since their revamp, and will be hoping to show a better face in the group stage elimination match on Saturday.

Fredrik "roeJ" Jørgensen and refrezh stepped up on the second-round force to set up MAD Lions for a good CT side on Overpass. acoR was able to get on the AWP early, and proved deadly with the Big Green, seeing his team grab an 8-2 lead.
Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Håkon "hallzerk" Fjærli combined for Dignitas' third, but the Swedish-Norwegian side never really got going. Following an 11-4 half in favor of MAD Lions, refrezh clutched out the second pistol and brought Dignitas' map pick to an early conclusion, 16-6.
Nuke started similarly to Overpass, MAD Lions going 5-0 up, but double entries going the way of Dignitas round after round allowed friberg's squad to get back to 5-4. Unfortunately for them, MAD Lions ran riot in the next five rounds, getting into bombsites with little trouble to finish their T side 10-5 up.
A 2v4 turnaround by HooXi and Rasmus "sjuush" Beck earned MAD Lions the CT pistol and propelled them towards a massive lead, 15-5, but it took them a while to close it out. Haris "H4RR3" Hadzic stepped up to help break the Danish team's economy and Dignitas went up to double digits, but they eventually fell as MAD Lions locked down the lower bombsite, making it 16-10.
