DreamHack Masters Winter North America invites announced

Chaos, Triumph, and New England Whalers are among the top contenders in the eight-team, $70,000 tournament.

DreamHack has announced the invited teams for the North American division of DreamHack Masters Winter, slated to run from November 30 - December 6 with $70,000 on offer.

The qualified sides of Yeah and TeamOne will be joined by six invited teams, with Anthony "vanity" Malaspina's Chaos being in contention to take the title alongside New England Whalers, TeamOne, and Triumph.

vanity and company look to be the favourites heading into the event

Rounding out the list of invited sides is the stream team of Mythic, as well as two other ESEA MDL rosters in the form of Rugratz and Rebirth, both of whom are currently competing in IEM Beijing-Haidian North America.

The event is notably missing North America's top teams — Liquid, Evil Geniuses, and FURIA — who will all be competing in the European division of the tournament instead after making a trip overseas to close out the season.

The team list for DreamHack Masters Winter North America looks as follows:

The sad part is that some of this sorry ass teams will get into top 30 (even top 20) because HLTV ranking system keeps giving NA the same weight as EU when they should be similar to australia and asia instead.

Exaclty I think renegades is a top 30 team and way better than some teams like New England whalers

These teams being the Masters of NA. They wouldn't be even close to the top of EU Esea league

CHAOS are pretty solid and TeamOne could compete with some EU Tier 2 teams

Chaos are the only one. But this is DH Masters! If there would be no pandemic, these teams wouldn't even get to DH Open! It is so funny and sad at the same time.

Not saying upsets are not happening :-) Credit to them for qualifying to DH Open, now they went straight to Masters and are probably like TOP 2-3 in that tournament.

depends on what Tier 2 is... cuz if T2 is like outside of top10(nip, col, mouz), then even Furia and EG can barely compete with them

just look at how good mibr got with some practice in eu and some motivation, coming from sa on loans without fancy 20k salaries and surprising everyone by almost beating astralis and g2 while beating furia these lower tier na teams are just paycheck hunters and have no motivation. chaos maybe with leaf and xeppaa and -marke +junior/osee but im sure chaos players get paid handsomely

I always thought those tier 2-3 na teams get payed average salary. Are you sure they get good money?
2020-11-12 03:30

chaos definitely does, not sure about the rest. but na scene is also known for being lazy as fuck, especially if they aren't being paid super well. even tenz who got a nice c9 salary had issues with the team and had motivation issues. that says enough about the rest of na. in general though it seems na pays better than eu despite eu being much more competitive in comparison while i dont like the br fanbase generally, their players are much more passionate than their na counterparts and came up from nothing. lg had to get donations just to make it to international events lmao
