NAVI take down G2 to reach IEM Beijing-Haidian grand final

The Russian-Ukrainian side defeated another big name in the playoffs of the event, earning a 2-1 victory in the semi-finals.

Natus Vincere were too big of a test for G2 in the IEM Beijing-Haidian playoffs as, after securing Dust2, the French-Serbian side came up short on both Train and Nuke.

Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev was once again a standout performer for his side, with Ilya "Perfecto" Zalutskiy following up his stellar series against Astralis with another noteworthy showing, posting a 1.14 rating. As Natus Vincere head to the grand final, where they will meet the winner of Complexity - Vitality, G2 will settle with a 3-4th finish in the event they played out with Audric "JaCkz" Jug.

NAVI secured their fourth victory over G2 this year

Natus Vincere got ahead early on Dust2, 4-1, but the map started going G2's way as soon as they got on the rifles. With JaCkz picking up an ace on an eco, the Europeans won seven out of nine rounds in the middle of the half, only for Natus Vincere to salvage it at the end with a couple of lockout Long and B holds (8-7).

Pulling off the A retake in the pistol saw G2 regain the lead, with Kenny "kennyS" Schrub being deadly on the AWP to push them to 13-9. A single round victory followed for the Russian-Ukrainian side before G2 closed out the map comfortably, 16-10, following a B push from Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač and JaCkz.

Egor "flamie" Vasilyev's clutch play on the pistol enabled a brilliant start to Natus Vincere's T-side on Train, going 5-0 before G2 got on the board by denying Perfecto's 1v3 attempt. The CIS side was just one round ahead (5-4) when they brought out their classic slow A crunch to get rolling again, finishing the half 9-6.

A fluffed anti-force-buy undid G2's good work on the pistol, with Natus Vincere running away with the score as a consequence, 15-7. A clutch from huNter- kept G2 alive for a bit, but the map was brought to an end after a s1mple double, 16-12.

It was all about Natus Vincere in the first half of the decider, Nuke, as Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy's troops tormented G2's defense, with a 3v5 turnaround in round four proving crucial to building momentum. Eleven rounds were on Natus Vincere's tally before Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's new team mustered two in a row, finding themselves in a deep hole nonetheless (12-3). There was no hope for G2 left after Natus Vincere locked down the pistol and the anti-force, taking the map 16-3 to advance to the grand final of IEM Beijing-Haidian.

Jesus what a nice guy! Never would have expected that from a dude with a NaVi flair. ;) Yes, it's the first time this season NaVi have faced Vitality. Gonna be gnarly. Also Chaos vs Triumph, where the winner goes to Europe for IEM GC. Gonna be cool.

Yep! just watched all the highlights, and goddamn the vitality reverse sweep was INSANE zywoo is truly a prodigy, navi need some level of consistincy to close out these series as this has happened before :( . DIdnt expect triumph to lose so badly to chaos but eh, will be interesting since reports were saying chaos was going to drop their CS roster but if they are performing this well, upsetting EG and domniating triumph, we shall see how they fare in EU!!! Hope you have a wonderful week and stay safe fellow c9 fan! (also hows sweden doing at the moment?)

I still think Chaos might drop their roster, it's just not financially viable... But at the very least the team are looking for a new home, so they should stick together and keep up their work. Xeppaaa has appearently been in talks with FURIA but they stopped, for whatever reason. Hopefully the lineup sticks together, they have potential. I'm doing alright! Shit's going down pandemic-wise but it's not much worse than anywhere else in Europe, I just hope schools close soon so we can actually stop this shit. But most of my friends are away for military service until Christmas and all my uni-classes are from home so I'm really just working with myself at the moment. How's Singapore?

Awh, singapores doing great! basically no cases due to our still strict covid laws and routines, im quite young and we do have in person school except with social distancing, temp checks and mask mandates. Overall it feels normal ish, there really isnt anything to worry about here, life as usual! thanks for asking :) how was your week? and doing anything special?

Soumds pretty neat! There's nothing special to do when shit is like this. Since this is also my first year at uni I'm still learning to manage my time better, and the pandemic is helping with that because most of my time is spent at home anyways. So I'm just working day-to-day with balancing productivity and relaxation.
