Cloud9 replace EG in DreamHack Masters Winter
The 'Colossus' received a last-minute invitation following the North American team's withdrawal.
Cloud9 will take Evil Geniuses' spot in DreamHack Masters Winter's European division, the tournament organiser announced on Monday. The decision was made after the North American team were forced to put their travel plans on hold due to "Covid-19 related restrictions".
Evil Geniuses had announced earlier on Monday that they would skip this week's BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, in which their spot will be filled by Heroic. This makes the IEM Global Challenge, which will be held between December 15 and 20, the only tournament that Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's side will play until the end of the year.
Cloud9 will replace EG in the Group A bracket, taking on Gambit in the first round of the double-elimination group stage. Prior to this tournament, the European team will play the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, in which they will be seeking redemption following a group stage exit in Flashpoint 2.
DreamHack Masters Winter's European division will be held online from November 30 through to December 6, with $150,000 on offer. The updated groups for the tournament can be found below:
