FURIA survive Isurus scare in BLAST Premier Fall Showdown

The Brazilians came back from a one-sided loss on the opening map to win the series in a 30-round decider.

FURIA have eliminated Isurus from BLAST Premier Fall Showdown after the hard-fought series and moved on to the quarter-finals, in which they will face Virtus.pro on Friday at 16:30 . The Brazilians came back from a 5-16 loss on the first map, Overpass, winning Mirage in similarly dominant fashion before Inferno went the full distance, with FURIA denying Isurus a massive comeback attempt in the last round of regulation.

Isurus took FURIA by surprise from the get-go on Overpass, almost seeming like the more stacked and experienced side as they kept winning key clutches and close late-round situations after trading blows early on. Roberto "reversive" Themtham's massive 1v4 and another 1v2 from Caike "caike" Costa both helped Isurus put together an incredibly successful offense, which left FURIA dumbfounded as they entered the second half at a 3-12 deficit.

FURIA breathed a sigh of relief after a surprisingly close series

There was still life left in the Brazilian squad, who lost the pistol but managed to answer with a forcebuy, but another series of clutches — this time from Marcos "deco" Amato and Nicolás "Noktse" Dávila — left FURIA in the dust, as Isurus rallied to a successful 16-5 finish on the opening map.

Mirage turned the match on its head as it was FURIA who won the big clutches early, courtesy of Henrique "HEN1" Teles, to go on a dominant streak on the Terrorist side. An eleven-round run gave them the momentum to equalize the series without too many issues, and the series reached its deciding Inferno.

At first, it looked like FURIA would put on another one-sided performance when they were leading 5-0 on the decider, but Isurus eventually found the answer to the defense and climbed back to 6-9 by halftime. With a forcebuy victory in the second half, Andrei "arT" Piovezan & co. stormed to match point almost uncontested, but they found Isurus quite difficult to close as the Argentinian side showcased a strong mentality, stringing seven rounds together to threaten overtime. However, FURIA found the last round, after all, pulling off a well-executed B attack to clinch the decider 16-14.

It really felt like a coinflip that second half
2020-11-24 22:59
Pretty good match I would say. Seem like there was a lot of "almost comeback" at 14-16 recently.
2020-11-24 22:58
This match showed that this players really miss Guerri. The emotions and the playstyle are pretty messy, arT is been agressive in a dumb way without Guerri calls.

Furia is not looking pretty hot as of right now. Maybe there is a general consensus that latam is worst than it really is tho. With more eu bootcamp thay can be more serious than what we think they are

Nowhere in these articles they say it's certain. HLTV just shared rumors that other websites released. It can go through or it not. I'm not saying HEN1 won't ever leave Furia, just saying that "issues outside of the server" part is not real, as Jaime and Akkari said themselves.
2020-11-25 02:30
i think furia making any changes would be stupid unless HEN1 is massively affecting team chemistry as a person. they have been in NA for a while, so its only reasonable their results against EU teams will be slightly weaker, and the first map against isurus seemed to be an anomaly.
2020-11-25 04:34
that third map will go down in history I tell you

I think that the difference between teams that play in SA and those that play in NA is getting smaller, mibr with 3 players from SA beating the best team that plays in NA and now Isurus almost taking OT the 3rd map against furia shows that

Very close match, SA deservers more oportunities in UE, the scene has clearly grown. I would say it's even better than actual NA. Is not the same irrelevant scene from 5 years ago. This teams have quality players, they just need experience. I hope more important tournaments start giving at least 1 slot to SA.

Not really, last year Shark destroyed Liquid (When they were 1#) and almost beat Astralis (end up losing on overtime). SA teams have level, even if they have few days of preparation due to the distance of regions.

I don't doubt that the scene is competitive and use the opportunites to bite the big ones, they're especially good at being unpredictable towards higher tier oppositions that don't usually pracc against them and don't expect their playstyle.. which you can also see by FURIA's run at ECS Season 7, which they never managed to repeat. I just don't think they have been a team worthy of top10 let alone top5 due to their results in NA.. especially when you look at their defeats, hence they have been overrated. I also managed to actually watch the game and see quite a few flaws in FURIA, whether it's them being caught on the bed or unprepared is a mystery though.. but it seems like their map pool is quite bad.

Imo, it seems they are struggling without guerri and also have relationship problems that are affecting this team. We don't know what it is, but their perfomance dropped real bad from what we saw during their NA period, they were playing decent CS, now they got destroyed by G2/mibr and almost lost to Isurus too.
