MIBR beat FaZe in BLAST Premier Showdown playoffs

The Brazilians pulled off an epic comeback on Nuke and then dominated on Dust2.

MIBR are through to the quarter-final stage in the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown after defeating FaZe 2-0. The Brazilian team stuttered, then moved into high gear, coming back from a 4-14 deficit on Nuke to win the map in double overtime. After wasting three map points, FaZe looked deflated on Dust2, where they were on the back foot from the offset as their opponents ran out comfortable winners to set up a quarter-final clash against the winner of Thursday's series between Liquid and MAD Lions.

MIBR looked uncharacteristically off the pace during the early stages of Nuke, their own map, as FaZe stormed to a 9-1 lead after losing the pistol round. The Brazilians them picked up the pace and secured three more rounds to keep their comeback hopes alive heading into the break.

FaZe piled more misery on MIBR after the side switch, winning the first three rounds of the half, but the landscape of the game changed once the Brazilians had proper gear. Vito "⁠kNgV-⁠" Giuseppe led the charge as MIBR enjoyed a spell of dominance and brought the deficit to a solitary round before FaZe finally broke that losing streak to hit map point. The European team would be unable to deliver the finishing blow, however, as MIBR kept their defense tight to force overtime.

The first overtime could not determine a winner as FaZe once again let a map point slip. Helvijs "⁠broky⁠" Saukants powered his team to a two-round lead in the following set of extra rounds with key opening frags, but MIBR kept their composure and won four in a row to lock down the map.

MIBR carried their momentum into Dust2 as they jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead, with Vinicius "⁠vsm⁠" Moreira raising eyebrows with a 1v3 clutch on the B site. Things were looking bleak for FaZe as the half approached its final third, but they managed to tighten up their defence and brought the deficit to just five rounds.

FaZe kept persevering in the second half and even managed to cut the gap to 11-13, but their comeback hopes were dashed in the following round as MIBR shockingly managed to win a full eco — a round that changed the course of the game and swung the momentum back towards the Brazilians, this time for good.
