mousesports defeat Cloud9; GODSENT upset Heroic in DreamHack Masters Winter playoffs
mousesports and GODSENT will meet in the semi-final of DreamHack Masters Winer after eliminating their opponents in the first leg of the playoffs.
The second meeting between Özgür "woxic" Eker's Cloud9 and the AWPer's former team mousesports ended with another 2-0 win for Finn "karrigan" Andersen and co. Another team eliminated from the tournament in 5th-8th is Heroic, as the world's second-best team suffered a 2-1 upset to GODSENT.
After making it through the BLAST Showdown, mousesports have made another deep run in DreamHack Masters Winter, while GODSENT have impressed in their second event with Luka "emi" Vuković on trial. The European side took down three Danish teams so far - Astralis, North, and Heroic, and will play a rematch versus mousesports on Saturday for a place in the grand final.
Cloud9 found sporadic success to start the T side of Nuke, but the double AWP of mousesports allowed the Europeans to grab control of the map soon, running away with the lead, 11-4. The pistol and the map seemed in the bag as Ricky "floppy" Kemery found himself in a 1v5 retake, but the American player turned it around for his second 1v5 clutch in two days, and inspired a comeback. Cloud9 got to 12 rounds before mousesports closed Nuke out thanks to a 2v4 by their best performers - Robin "ropz" Kool and David "frozen" Čerňanský.
On Inferno, mousesports started off cleanly, 5-0, before Alex "ALEX" McMeekin's men managed to get going on the defense to finish it just one round behind. The Europeans picked up another pistol and reached the 11 round mark before woxic pulled off two 1v3 clutches to get his team back into the lead (11-10), but that was short-lived. mousesports put up a wall and ended the map 16-12 as karrigan got a knife-kill on his former teammate woxic.

Heroic - GODSENT went all three maps, with the European mixture winning their map pick of Inferno 16-10 after a near-perfect start, 7-1 on the T side. Vertigo was a different story, as René "TeSeS" Madsen pushed Heroic to 10 rounds on the offense with some brilliant play, but emi's team pulled back after the switch. The score was 14-14 when Heroic squeezed out a crucial round, forcing Train.
Playing on the defense, Jesse "zehN" Linjala and Asger "Farlig" Jensen were again on point, continuing their strong form from earlier in the series. GODSENT were 9-2 up when Heroic recovered with a pistol-armor buy, but after winning the second pistol, they failed to convert their second anti-eco. GODSENT grabbed that opportunity and ran away with Train to complete the upset, 16-10.
