DreamHack Masters Winter North America reaches playoffs
Two Brazilian and two American teams will fight through the single-elimination playoff bracket for the lion's share of the $70,000 prize pool.
The playoff bracket for DreamHack Masters Winter North America has been determined following the conclusion of the group stage, narrowing the initial pool of eight teams down to four.
Chaos and TeamOne emerged on top of their respective groups, with Anthony "vanity" Malaspina's men edging past Rugratz in their opening bout before prevailing in a two-map affair over Rebirth. TeamOne, meanwhile, came out ahead in a Brazilian derby against Yeah for their initial match before narrowly taking down Mythic in the Group B winners' match to secure their playoff berth.
Triumph had their year brought to an early and disappointing end as they were unsuccessful in both of their attempts against Rebirth, who claimed the second playoff spot out of Group A thanks to a strong showing from Rahul "curry" Nemani in their decider match-up.
In Group B, Yeah bounced back from their opening round loss to TeamOne as they saw to the elimination of New England Whalers before surpassing Mythic, Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer shining for his side as they claimed one-sided wins on Inferno and Mirage to take the series 2-1 and earn the final spot in the playoff bracket.
