Movistar Riders and larsen to part ways

The Madrid-based organization is now in the process of trying out new AWPers after deciding to not renew the Dane's contract, which expires at the end of the month.

Movistar Riders will part ways with Sebastian "⁠larsen⁠" Larsen going into the coming tournament season, as the Dane's contract will not be renewed for 2021.

The 23-year-old has been on the team's books since August of 2020, when Movistar Riders veered towards a fully international English-speaking team, and was signed on to take charge of the AWP after Rajohn "⁠EasTor⁠" Linato was let go by the Spanish organization.

larsen will no longer play for Movistar Riders

larsen, who had shown promise in Denmark with Sigma and GoldenGitte before joining Movistar Riders, wasn't able to make a strong impression in his five months with the team, ending his tenure with a 1.01 rating as they failed to reach their main goal for the season, making it back into ESEA Premier.

Movistar Riders have announced that they are now in the process of trying out several AWPers to fill the void left by larsen, with one of the players rumored to be on the shortlist being Owen "⁠smooya⁠" Butterfield, who was already close to inking a deal with the Spanish organization last summer.

Movistar Riders will have to make a decision hastily, however, as they are slated to compete at ESL European Championship Winter, which starts on January 18 and offers a spot at the IEM Katowice Play-in.

Just saying, anarkez was watching Movistar Riders vs LDLC last month. And Degster is on transfer list, but I'm pretty sure he is expensive and Riders usually gets free agents, so anarkez will be their new AWP :)

I would prefer smooya over anarkez 8 times out of 10

Both are too good for this team though and both would be a huge upgrade from larsen haha

Smooya is a free agent but everybody knows he'll be out of the team in 2/3 months. Jugi and guardian are also free agent, could work in this team. Players that were put in transfer lists could come for free, depending on the expiration of the contract. There are several names: - nifty - koosta - ottond - degster

Very true however, with his so called "toxic nature" rumors around and many teams getting on other awpers for their projects and neglecting him, going back to a T2 or T3 team is the best chance of getting noticed again to play in the big leagues. C9 talked to him but didn't get him, North said no as well. Many other top projects got overhauled but he didn't got a ticket to anywhere
