Movistar Riders and larsen to part ways
The Madrid-based organization is now in the process of trying out new AWPers after deciding to not renew the Dane's contract, which expires at the end of the month.
Movistar Riders will part ways with Sebastian "larsen" Larsen going into the coming tournament season, as the Dane's contract will not be renewed for 2021.
The 23-year-old has been on the team's books since August of 2020, when Movistar Riders veered towards a fully international English-speaking team, and was signed on to take charge of the AWP after Rajohn "EasTor" Linato was let go by the Spanish organization.
larsen, who had shown promise in Denmark with Sigma and GoldenGitte before joining Movistar Riders, wasn't able to make a strong impression in his five months with the team, ending his tenure with a 1.01 rating as they failed to reach their main goal for the season, making it back into ESEA Premier.
Movistar Riders have announced that they are now in the process of trying out several AWPers to fill the void left by larsen, with one of the players rumored to be on the shortlist being Owen "smooya" Butterfield, who was already close to inking a deal with the Spanish organization last summer.
Movistar Riders will have to make a decision hastily, however, as they are slated to compete at ESL European Championship Winter, which starts on January 18 and offers a spot at the IEM Katowice Play-in.
Movistar Riders are currently:
Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández-Quejo Cano
Alejandro "alex" Masanet
Lucas "steel" Lopes
Kristjan "shokz" Jakobson
Galder "bladE" Barcena (coach)
