fnatic sign Jackinho

The Swedish team have brought in a new AWPer to finalise their roster after the departure of Robin "flusha" Rönnquist.

fnatic have finalized their lineup ahead of the 2021 season with the addition of Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson. The 21-year-old sniper with limited international experience showed promise in domestic competition, prompting Maikil "Golden" Selim and co. to pick him up as they looked to rejuvenate the team.

"Joining fnatic, wow... I'm really honoured and I'm really proud", the youngster said in the announcement video, in which he also praised the player he replaced, flusha. "He is someone I have a lot of respect for, but I will try my best to contribute with my strengths."

JW will stay the main AWPer of fnatic for the time being

Jackinho added that he played quite a bit with Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin over the last year, outside of the team environment. "We have a good natural chemistry, I'd say". Additionally, he posted a TwitLonger, explaining his thoughts at the moment:

"There is one part of me that is still trying to realize that I have achieved one of my biggest dreams and then there is the other part that is hungry and eager to learn, improve and achieve great things with this team for this organisation. This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to tackle this challenge in 2021."

With different mixtures of Swedish players, Jackinho won three domestic tournaments in 2020: Svenska Elitserien Spring 2020, Doritos Open 2, and Yalla Cup Winter. He averaged a 1.29 rating over 15 maps played in the year, although he did not face a single team inside the top 50.

With 48.8% of his total kills being with the "Big Green", Jackinho was expected take over the main AWP role for fnatic, which would see Jesper "JW" Wecksell change back to a rifling role which he played at different points in his career. However, the youngster has confirmed in an interview that the 25-year-old will continue wielding the AWP for the time being, while Jackinho tries out new roles.

"From the beginning, I will not play the AWP but JW will continue with it, and I will try some new roles. But it is a dialogue I had with the coach and our IGL and we have laid out a plan of what we think will work best", Jackinho said.

fnatic are now:

Sweden Jesper "JW" Wecksell
Sweden Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson
Sweden Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin
Sweden Maikil "Golden" Selim
Sweden Jack "Jackinho" Ström Mattsson

Sweden Andreas "Samuelsson" Samuelsson (coach)

Sweden Robin "flusha" Rönnquist (inactive)

JW Is not bad, that Fnatic has been underperforming during online play was to be suspected. The roster has been playing lan for a long time and the ones performing online are the younger generation Brollan and Golden who both play more pugs then the og's. Calling JW bad is just wrong.

Idk man... JW on rifle didn't work out last time. Fnatic tried it out with draken and twist on the awp. Although both were shit, JW didn't have as big of an impact with the rifle. He's should remain the main AWP imo. But let's see what jackinho can do. Fnatic surely needs more firepower.

2021-01-12 19:56
Can't comprehend their management to be fair, removing one of their legends just like that... Benching him? He surely deserves better than this kind of treatment. And I mean ok, if you have to change him do it but give him some time and a minimum of respect.

fnatic lacks firepower because they have too many IGLs in their team. flusha was obvious to cut. Maybe only brollan and krimz are trying to play.
2021-01-13 05:46
flusha was great and entertaining. It's sad that he left but it's good to give younger players a chance to prove temselves also.

never heard of him but happy for all of them picking a new player, instead of bringing in some 30 year old, gives the youngster a chance and saves fnatic a lot of money GLHF

who??
2021-01-12 22:50
let me think for a while Flusha was lurker/support Jackinho is awper and i'll take the position from JW JW have an extreme big ego, he would't play as support, even because he misses tons of simple smokes And this guy is famous by rushing and being agressive, how would he play as lurker? would krimz or golden do this position? and if they do, who would be the support? This move dosen't make sense to me, -JW would've be way more simple to adapt, and even if Fnatic find a way to adapt this, they i'll take at least 6 months

i read that he would try new roles, but why the fuck they brought an young awp star to play rifle and support roles? there's a lot of solid rifles in sweden right now that would be way faster to adapt

2021-01-13 02:39
Not sure why they would pick an awper. Awpers always have the better stats and when youve got a 48% kills with it... idk. And a 1.29 rating vs tier 50+ teams and barely any hltv recorded maps (about 15) its a weird signing. My guess is that they saw potential and that he played with brollan. I think brollan recommended him. Its going to be fun to see how he does for sure. New swedish talent 💪🏻 Lets get back to the top
2021-01-13 02:57
what a joke nice player without any exp on hltv matches and not playing fpl/fplc

Well by the way he talks, you can tell he sounds a lot like most Fnatic players tbh. I wouldn't be surprised if they picked him up because of his personality more than anything. Best of luck either way.
