The European team has identified two players as potential additions ahead of the 2021 season.

MAD Lions' AWPer Frederik "⁠acoR⁠" Gyldstrand and Renegades' in-game leader Christopher "⁠dexter⁠" Nong are two players MOUZ are aiming to refresh their lineup with, HLTV.org and 1pv.fr have learned.

The duo would come in for Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen, who is not inclined to extend his deal with the German organization, and Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong, the team's longest-standing member.

Renegades' IGL could be set for a trip to Europe

If the moves come to fruition, dexter will reunite with Torbjørn "⁠mithR⁠" Nyborg, who coached Renegades for five months in 2020. The Australian team dominated the domestic scene last year, winning all nine tournaments they attended, with the 26-year-old shot caller averaging a 1.24 rating.

The addition of acoR would solve MOUZ' AWPing problem after juggling around the sniper rifle since the departure of Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker in August. The 23-year-old Dane averaged a 1.14 rating in 2020 and won Flashpoint 1 with MAD Lions in April, but the team have struggled to replicate their early-year success and are currently ranked 22nd in the world.

On Monday, MOUZ confirmed that they are exploring their options to replace karrigan as the 30-year-old player has not yet decided on his future ahead of his contract's expiry in March. A report from theclutch.com.br in November linked him to a move back to FaZe.

chrisJ has found himself on the chopping block after a poor individual year, averaging a 0.91 rating across all matches, with that number dropping to 0.81 when MOUZ faced top-5 opposition. If he departs the team, it will mark an end to his long association with the German organisation, which he joined in October 2013.

If MOUZ acquire the two players, they will have the following roster:

movement is overrated. s1mple has pretty bad movement compared to other pros and he is still top 1 or 2 in the world. acoR is a good player for sure, but movement is pretty irrelevant as long as you are on a decent level where you can make the important jumps

Karrigan is literally the best igl when it comes to building a team and getting the best out of every player.He is always willing to change a role in his own bad just for the sacrifice of the team.Nobody can doubt that karrigan is among the Kings of Cs who haven't won a major such as niko, s1mple,RpK etc. As for ChrisJ the bad individual rating comes from his lack of need in the team.His playstyle lacked a lot when they added bymas and benched woxic. He isn't washed up at all.His playstyle didn't fit in the team anymore.please don't think so short again. Ropz’s top 7 interview was quite telling - it is clear that they have all been struggling with motivation during Corina but, fuck, it’s been almost a year since they showed proper results and at some point you need to start working for your fucking paycheck again. ChrisJ really needs to have a long and hard think about his future. He is a grandpa in pro gamer years now and, while that shouldn’t disqualify you from playing, he needs to demonstrate that he is capable of performing at the top level once again. I really see this working. They were needing an impactful awper. Chrisj was good but unfortunately he had a really rough year and seemed to be playing very nervously vs good teams. I think this team will be doing good without karrigan, the young players learnt a lot from him already. I think dexter is a good caller and did good with the players he had in his region, this will be a good test for him.

I'm not sure how I feel about Dexter IGLing. This is a big step up for someone who's been stuck in Australia playing trash teams for the past year. Filling Karrigan's shoes and IGLing against top tier teams is a tough task. However, Acor is an unreal pick up. EXACTLY what this team needs.

To be honest, they really need a good coach to help dexter make this happen. Sure, he’s got big boots to fill but then again it’s not like karrigan was without criticism and it’s not like there is a huge open market for IGLs out there. Karrigan was leaving anyway so it was going to be either ChrisJ (dear god no) or someone new.

Nah, Karrigan is still under contract until March. If it mattered then the news about Acor would change his mind (and honestly this could easily become a top team if Karrigan stays and they kick Chris for Acor). Faze has the $$$, they'll offer Karrigan a deal Mouz would never be able to match. He also get's to reunite with Rain, and an org he's played for before and likely enjoys a lot.

all true but i am concerned that everyone seems to be saying FaZe as an org isnt that good at supporting the CS team and i feel that Karrigan needs a fair bit after seeing them without Reijn

if dexter can call in t1, this team could easily be title contenders

imo dexter has proven himself against lower tier opponents in AUS but hasn't seen results against tier 1 teams for a while now. Picking him up, especially as IGL, is a risky move for mouz but I think he deserves a chance.

This is a surprisingly interesting move. acoR is a great AWP pickup. Dexter is a wildcard. He's a great player, but it'll be interesting to see how good his leadership is with actually talented players. Could be very hit or miss, but he deserves the chance given his history prior to 2020.

one thing that a lot of people have glanced over is that dexter has already worked together with mithr on Renegades, so this might not be such of a big wildcard. If a coach and an IGL is on the same page, that is a big step of the team actually turning out good.

I dunno if this lineup is gonna work, but this is interesting for sure. For what its worth, other teams should learn from mouz how to make decent to great lineups with reasonable money, not splurge millions around, buyout players and pay them totalling 1.4 million, then brag about it and then just bench them out.

I hope Karrigan doesn't go back to FaZe, that would just be humiliating after getting kicked. It would be cool if some tournament organiser picked up both Karrigan and ChrisJ to make a veteran team and judge maps or younger teams and also play in show-matches.
