GODSENT announce transfer of CS:GO roster
The four players and coach have found a new home.
GODSENT have announced the sale of their Counter-Strike roster to "another big international esports organisation" on Friday, parting ways with the core of players they signed from SMASH at the end of 2019.
The lineup has been linked to a move to FunPlus Phoenix since October of last year, with the General Manager of the Chinese organization confirming in December that a preliminary agreement was reached between the two teams.
"The journey together with this team has been incredible and full of victorious moments," GODSENT said in a statement about the departure of their lineup. "We are proud and grateful for what we have accomplished together, and we will forever be in their debt for how they have helped propel our organisation to the next level. This team will forever be enshrined in the history of our mighty organization."
During 2020, GODSENT became a stable top-20 team, peaking at the 15th spot in the rankings and earning top 4 finishes at ICE Challenge 2020 and DreamHack Masters Winter, as well as placing fifth and seventh in the first two Regional Major Ranking events, ESL One: Road to Rio and cs_summit 6.
The lineup currently features team coach Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg and just four players, following the benching of Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend and his departure to ALTERNATE aTTaX. They are expected to be unveiled as the new FunPlus Phoenix team, with the final piece of the puzzle, the in-game leader of the team, currently not known.
Meanwhile, GODSENT is reportedly in advanced talks regarding signing a new Brazilian squad assembled by Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia, which features former SK duo Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and João "felps" Vasconcellos, as well as young trio Bruno "latto" Rebelatto, Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara, and Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer.
