GODSENT announce transfer of CS:GO roster

The four players and coach have found a new home.

GODSENT have announced the sale of their Counter-Strike roster to "another big international esports organisation" on Friday, parting ways with the core of players they signed from SMASH at the end of 2019.

The lineup has been linked to a move to FunPlus Phoenix since October of last year, with the General Manager of the Chinese organization confirming in December that a preliminary agreement was reached between the two teams.

STYKO and co. will no longer be donning the GODSENT jersey

"The journey together with this team has been incredible and full of victorious moments," GODSENT said in a statement about the departure of their lineup. "We are proud and grateful for what we have accomplished together, and we will forever be in their debt for how they have helped propel our organisation to the next level. This team will forever be enshrined in the history of our mighty organization."

During 2020, GODSENT became a stable top-20 team, peaking at the 15th spot in the rankings and earning top 4 finishes at ICE Challenge 2020 and DreamHack Masters Winter, as well as placing fifth and seventh in the first two Regional Major Ranking events, ESL One: Road to Rio and cs_summit 6.

The lineup currently features team coach Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg and just four players, following the benching of Kevin "kRYSTAL" Amend and his departure to ALTERNATE aTTaX. They are expected to be unveiled as the new FunPlus Phoenix team, with the final piece of the puzzle, the in-game leader of the team, currently not known.

Meanwhile, GODSENT is reportedly in advanced talks regarding signing a new Brazilian squad assembled by Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia, which features former SK duo Epitacio "TACO" de Melo and João "felps" Vasconcellos, as well as young trio Bruno "latto" Rebelatto, Bruno "b4rtiN" Câmara, and Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer.

The following squad has left GODSENT:

Slovakia Martin "STYKO" Styk
Finland Jesse "zehN" Linjala
Montenegro Pavle "Maden" Bošković
Denmark Asger "Farlig" Jensen

Sweden Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg.

FURIA, mibr, Liquid (Fallen), GODSENT... write this: Brazil is gonna shine in 2021.
2021-01-15 16:34
16 replies
Furia: Won't if LANs return. Especially after Hen1 leaving. MIBR: Unproven roster, can surprise people, but won't do so on LAN probably. Liquid: Fallen is 100% not gonna be the shining star even if Liquid succeed. Godsent: a huge shitshow The Ex-MIBR guys: Unless a huge org picks them up, probably not gonna stay at the top. After the honeymoon period they were gonna be a Tier 2 team anyway.

hltv.org/stats/teams/7733/boom?lineup=10.. Literally not a single match against a Top 50 team. Don't get me wrong, they're fucking fantastic but how can you call them "proven" if they've never even played a Tier 2.5 team?

That's yet to be seen. Though this is Mistake i admit. Junior seems like a very capable player. But still, Furia have to prove that they're not all online and can reciprocate this performance on LAN.

They already have, lol. They won Astralis and G2 on lan

Ah yes, how many lan tournaments have they won? How many major playoffs have they been in? Having a couple of upset wins =/= lan proven
2021-01-16 16:40
2 replies
There is no need to win a lan tournament in other to prove yourself on lan, it's enough to play as good as they play online, in fact what happened when they went to lan.
2021-01-16 17:12
1 reply
"it's enough to play as good as they play online" except Furia didn't quite do that. Except for a second place in ECS Season 7 (in which they got smashed by Vitality btw) they don't have any LAN achievement that solidifies themselves as a good team. Also, it kinda is important to make deep runs in important tournaments. If you win groups just to exit in early playoffs then you're chokers. And if you don't even make out of groups regularly, then yep... you're unproven. Hell, North even won a few titles but people always said they were an average team at best.
