NAVI eliminate Complexity from BLAST Premier Global Final

The CIS giants live to fight another day in the $1 million tournament after a hard-fought victory.

Natus Vincere beat Complexity 2-1 in the first round of the BLAST Premier Global Final lower bracket, setting up a match against the loser of Astralis and G2 on Friday. The international team, who are playing the event with Jakob "JUGi" Hansen as a stand-in, scrapped an overtime win on Mirage, but Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov's men turned things around following an easy win on Nuke and a tight game on Inferno.

The action started on Mirage, the same map that had Complexity picked against Vitality on Wednesday. Benjamin "blameF" Bremer's men dominated the first half and cruised to a 12-3 lead as Natus Vincere's passive approach allowed the Terrorists to get mid control in most of the rounds. The international team, however, made the same mistake in the second half, allowing NAVI to mount a comeback and push the game to overtime.

electronic was the top fragger of the series

Complexity won two out of their three CT side rounds in extra time and switched to the T side with a small advantage. They lost their first T side round and came close to losing the second as well, but JUGi won a massive 1v2 clutch with 10 seconds left on the clock. With momentum on their side, they rushed B to win the game.

Natus Vincere displayed a great T side on Nuke and won nine consecutive rounds until JUGi stopped their streak with a beautiful triple kill on the B tunnels, with Complexity winning three more rounds in the half. Although the CIS side lost their first three CT rounds after the break, they regained control once Aleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev started AWPing and quickly wrapped things up.

On Inferno, Andrey "B1ad3" Gorodenskiy subbed in Valeriy "B1T" Vakhovskiy for Egor "flamie" Vasilyev as usual, but the youngster didn't have much impact in the first half and Natus Vincere were down 8-7 after a lacklustre defensive showing, despite s1mple and Denis "electronic" Sharipov combining for 26 kills.

NAVI picked themselves up and won the second pistol round, also fending off two force-buys. Complexity still fought back, but then s1mple broke their momentum with a spectacular 1v4 clutch, with B1T winning a 1v2 situation shortly afterwards to steer his side across the finish line.

Destroyed by Liquid, almost lost to coL with JUGi as stand-in, what makes u say this? :) This actually takes away the glory for Liquid, this shows that it wasnt them being amazing but NaVi being in terrible form :/

Chill, and switch ur flag, norwegians are nice people, u’re obviously fake-flaggning. 1st map coL dominated but choked at the end, the other maps where much closer then the result even though 1 of the maps had a close result. If u didnt watch the game (which u obviously didnt) your comment is just wierd.

I agree with him, Navi barely edged out CoL with a shitty stand-in. No real chance to win the tournament. I bet G2 will put them to bed early tomorrow

Yeah because the whole team stands on the shoulders of s1mple, if simple performs, the team is good if not, they will lose to almost anybody

Electronic is really important imo. S1mple alone carries but loses unless electronic shows up
2021-01-22 15:24
obviously the performance wasnt convincing, but navi rekt col on nuke and inferno. its expected that they can put up a good fight on their map pick which navi suck on btw. its not fair to say a team got dominated without seeing them play both t and ct sides first
2021-01-22 13:21
1 reply
They rekt on nuke, yes, but not on Inferno. It was an extremely close game on inferno and Navi could have fallen behind 0-7 at the start but for s1mples ninja and another lucky round with TK for CoL. Also s1mple and electronic took two or three 1v4 1v3 clutches, which should not happen typically. So a really close map which could have gone the other way.

he was in a bit of a slump but i’m very sure that was because of whatever he needed surgery for, he was in a car crash earlier last year so that might be it. but you’re definitely right poizon early last year looked actually amazing it was a joy to watch when he took over the game against good teams

Seems like NaVi didn't fix their old problems and rely mostly on individual performance, but it's still enough to beat joke teams like CoL. Boom was very solid today.

It's the same old story with NaVi. They always say they will work harder and prepare more, and in the end it is always up to s1mple and electronic to drag them over the finish line

Indeed, inconsistent due to relying on s1mple and elec. s1mple very rarely has bad games, but when he does (happens to everyone, even him) NaVi kinda su**

They really don't have any solid teamplay or structure to fall back on when their stars don't perform, which is why I think as a TEAM they suck. They can count their lucky stars that s1mple is so ridiculously consistent and elec has such a high peak.

Probably didnt get the same positions/role as he had in 100T + needs time to adapt to a new style of play. + he wasnt in the best form at the last couple of months with 100T either. I think he’s doin his role pretty well, seems like he’s not supposed to be the starplayer of this team

Nice match. At the 1st half at mirage I was scared that team will throw match like yesterday. But finally boys woke up. Complexity is quite solid even with stand-in. P.S. Looks like B1t is stronger that Flamie now, looking to watch him not only on inferno but also on some other maps.

2021-01-22 02:36
I don't think Complexity is playing their best, Jugi had some good clutches like the noscope quickshot in ot but BlameF seems to be tired. I think they may of lost their form and keep in mind this is a Complexity fan.
