Virtus.pro beat FURIA to book cs_summit 7 playoff spot

The CIS team launched an impressive comeback on Overpass with an imperious display by Mareks "YEKINDAR" Gaļinskis.

Virtus.pro are the third team through to the cs_summit 7 playoffs following a 2-0 victory over FURIA in Group C's upper bracket final. The CIS side took the lead in the series with an all-round display on Inferno, while Overpass was a one-man show as YEKINDAR pulled off countless multi-kill rounds and a few crucial clutches to help the team recover from an 11-4 deficit.

"I'm happy I had a good game because on Inferno it was a bit harsh for me," the Latvian said after the match. "It was a bit unusual to play a team like FURIA, their individual style is really hard to adapt to. Usually, I'm usually not playing against that type of players."

The first half of Inferno was a keenly-contested affair played with high intensity. Neither side managed to stamp their authority on the game or string more than a couple of rounds together, with the two in-game leaders, Dzhami "Jame" Ali and Andrei "arT" Piovezan, topping the scoreboard for their respective teams.

Virtus.pro move on to the playoffs

Virtus.pro came out of the break looking a more resolute side and started to put some rounds together, bringing the scoreline to a 13-7 advantage on the back of a 1v4 clutch by Sanjar "SANJI" Kuliev in the first full gun round. FURIA were not fazed one bit, though, and went on a solid run to restore parity at 13 rounds, but the CIS team were unwilling to let a comeback happen and ran over the Brazilian defence in the closing stages of the game to lock down the map.

Having lost all but one of the last five games played on Overpass, FURIA seemed to be in trouble as they headed into the second map, but they surpassed all expectations, racing to an 11-4 lead with a strong defensive showing.

And then the YEKINDAR show began. The Latvian player, who had ended Inferno with a modest 14 frags, went 27-5 in the half and averaged over 200 damage per round to inspire Virtus.pro to a comeback victory against the Brazilians in what turned out to be a completely one-sided half.

Furia is playing with a new guy, not only zero experience in big matches but (by now) 2 weeks of practices together. And the game was close. Says a lot of the quality of Furia's players. VP is the 10th best team

They didn’t kick Hen1. He step down because he wanted to, it was his decision. Because he wants to play with his brother, so Furia were trying to create space for his brother in the team, so Hen1 would stay, but they didn’t found any space for him in the team, and Hen1 step down because of it, he wants to play with his brother. And Furia can’t do anything about it

So true
2021-01-27 12:17
The Furia is a team without a captain. They play like a cool stack in competitive matches. They run, shoot. And 1 taken round in attack out of 13 on overpass is proof of this. They needed to kick arT instead of Hen1.

It wasn't the lack of luck, but a lack of patience from Furia. The 1v5 Art needlessly jumped towards JAME to get a pistol kill and died, for example. This game and the game against EG were winnable games, but Furia seemed to lose their concentration too easily. So the unlikely situations were not VP's luck, but their ability to capitalize on Furia's throw.
2021-01-27 00:41
There are many problems on Furia. 1: It seems to me that after Guerri was banned, they kinda look desperate and tilted late in the game and the keep maing lots of mistakes. 2: Those mistakes are rushing when having advantage. Art rushes kills 1 enemy, its 5v4 for Furia and he rushes again and dies. 3: It seems they are not communicating very well to, like when they were on Overpass today and there was this guy hidden, killed 2 players and someone walked and was killed.

You mean that play when Yekindar is 1 v3 on pillar with famas? Terrible play by Furia to give him three 1v1 when everybody is on site.

There were so many like that, i feel that they put themselves in terrible situations and if they just stood still they could have won 2-0 the series

It is converselely. They are too detached sometimes now. Jame talked about it in his view. Also heard similar things from AdreN's stream and Yekindar's view. Team is untypically to CIS is very calm and collected. Too calm I would say, which in my opinion is better to be consistent, but doesn't translate into miracle runs, like it was on Berlin major
