European Development Championship Season 2 team list unveiled
The sixteen teams that will compete in the second season of the European Development Championship, organized by Eden Esports and Fantasyexpo, have been unveiled on Thursday. The tournament that takes place on February 5-25 will feature five teams within the top 30 of the world rankings, with SAW being the highest-ranked one at the moment.
The first season of the tournament took place in December, when K23 secured the victory and the $17,500 first-place prize. The competition will follow the same format this time around, with four GSL groups (played on Feb 5-13) leading into single-elimination playoffs (Feb 22-25).
Eden Esports and Fantasyexpo use a unique approach to a franchising system for the tournament series, as companies that purchase broadcasting rights also get a slot in the tournament, which they can pass on to a team or allocate through a regional qualifier.
The team list for the event includes season 1 winners K23, top30 teams SAW, North, forZe, Nemiga, and Sprout, as well as other top-100 squads. Engin "MAJ3R" Küpeli's Sangal as well as Movistar Riders — who have been playing with Owen "smooya" Butterfield —, will also compete at the tournament.
European Development Championship Season 2 team list is as follows:
