autimatic leaves Counter-Strike

The 24-year-old has transitioned to VALORANT after his plan to build a new team alongside Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and Miikka "suNny" Kemppi fell through.

Timothy "autimatic" Ta has announced his departure from CS:GO to join forces with VALORANT team T1, also featuring former iBUYPOWER quartet Braxton "swag" Pierce, Keven "AZK" Lariviere, Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham, and Sam "DaZeD" Marine.

The move comes in the aftermath of the disbandment of Gen.G, whose roster first lost Sam "s0m" Oh and Damian "daps" Steele in September before its remaining members, Kenneth "koosta" Suen, Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand, and autimatic, got placed on the transfer list by the organization at the end of the year.

autimatic joins forces with former C9 teammate Skadoodle in T1

Not long after that, autimatic was linked with the creation of a brand new team alongside flusha and suNny, before the Swede revealed that the plan fell through as a result of a lack of interest from established esports organizations.

His departure from Gen.G leaves the American-Korean organization's CS:GO division with zero members, after koosta was transitioned to its VALORANT division and BnTeT signed with EXTREMUM, while Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit became the coach of Cloud9.

The 24-year-old leaves a seven-year career in CS:GO behind, during which he represented several highly-regarded organizations such as Complexity, TSM, and Cloud9. His longest and the most successful stint was under the C9 banner, whom he played for in 2016-2019 and with whom he most notably won the ESL Pro League Season 4 Finals in 2016, where he also claimed an MVP medal, and the ELEAGUE Major in 2018.

At the time he was among the most accomplished players in North America, and he went on to place 17th in the Top 20 players of 2018 ranking as one of only seven players from his region to make the list until then.

The roster disbanded because Tarik wanted a roster move and C9 wouldn’t because they’d won the major. Also didn’t help that Skadoodle announced retirement right after. He only played because he was on contract. Similar to how shroud only streamed under C9 because he was on contract still. NT

Riot isn’t Activision though. And looking at the viewership currently I have to agree on it’s not dying anytime soon. I get hltv has this perception of Valorant dying but, there is 0 indication of that. It’ll be like LoL/Dota2

There is investments in the NA pro scene but the problem with NA is everyone is about the NA ego and paychecks. NA has built that reputation in pretty much all sports and e sports. Why would an org want to invest if their players might just leave to get another paycheck elsewhere. The entirety of the valorant pro scene or 90% of it are washed up NA pros or tier2/tier3 pug stars lol. I play valorant here and there but it’s just boring. Grinded beta and season 1 and didn’t play until this reason act. Just a RNG simulator.

You’re speaking from your personal assumptions and feelings. “Valorant sucks, it’s boring, washed up t5 players, RNG trash, yada yada” Cool story... The truth is this isn’t 2015. CSGO simply isn’t a popular game in our region. I can post the regional numbers if you like. But... Salaries for good players are inflated. The return on investment after years & years just isn’t there for NA. The interest from players isn’t there anymore. So... No TOs, no orgs & no players. Put NA ego aside... Valve doesn’t really give any stability. They upkeep the game and make the rules for the major. Riot on the other hand is hands on. We know they’ll be a franchise league, huge sponsors, top tier marketing, ad revenue program for orgs, support for players, large prize pools. It’s the difference between LoL & Dota. Dota2 has one amazing super prize pool event. LoL has a year long league w/ multiple events leading to a huge international LAN. All which includes heavy marketing, ad sharing etc. Just saying... Everyone on hltv can say “Valorant dead game it sucks”... Not going to change anything.
2021-02-05 01:40

This comment is ironic because just like the other guy you're going completely off assumptions, none of that is confirmed afaik, the only thing we do know is that the salaries in valorant are so comically inflated it makes cs salaries look normal.

So, the playerbase in CSGO dwindling in NA isnt an assumption (been happening tbh) and neither is the comment about the TO's or orgs. I mean... That's obvious. Orgs pulling out, players leaving, no real regional tournaments... Here's the MM servers which hold the largest populations. I know there's FPL & ESEA. steamdb.info/servers/ And here's something Cloud9 president last year said about CSGO. dexerto.com/csgo/cloud9-reveal-they-lose.. And the next paragraph isn't really based on assumption I'm using LoL and Dota as examples. Sure I'm guessing Val will be franchised, w/ ad revenue programs but, it's fair to say Riot & Valve have a formula. Look at South Korea & Valorant... The game wasn't doing good at all so, they created a program giving 8 teams in the region $50,000 esportsobserver.com/riot-games-korea-val.. As far as salaries in Val idk... I follow a bunch of esports and honestly idk. I heard they're high for such a new game but, I dont have numbers. CSGO is amazing but, I'm a realest. There's obvious issues for NA that EU simply dont have.
2021-02-05 04:19
So True. We are not saying that LOL > DOTA or Valorant > CSGO but Riot>>>Valve after all. Big Orgs like TSM know where to invest

yeah I'm not talking about how good they are in cs. I'm talking about how good they are in valorant. There are lots of former cs pros who have gotten much better in valorant, some have gotten worse. Some of the best valorant players don't even come from cs.

if they stay relevant it's because valorant is a low skill game, any cs player on a top15 team who became a valorant pro would destroy everyone except for the few people I listed however, valorant talent will eventually come and almost nobody currently in the scene will still be good

Yeah that’s why all the tier 2 tier 3 washed NA pros shine in that game. It’s boring though. Kinda a joke of a competitive scene when all the pros are washed up from CS. I wish autimatic luck though. Hiko is cool too. They’ll all come back within the year though. They all do.

What shall they do though? Its just a lack of orgs willing to pay the big $, especially in NA, corona had big impact on that as well. Valorant is a new option, a new way to get the best again and earn big bucks since all the bigger players switching are bought to bring a brand from cs to valorant
2021-02-04 21:12

Exactly, despite Valorant not bringing in the stability or revenue CS currently brings, orgs are still deciding due to the success of LOL that they trust the Riot publisher over Valve. Why? Because there is a lot more montetising in LOL and they can make a fuckton of profit, lots of content etc and Valorant is primed to do the same

I mean you're not completely wrong, why do we only see NA pros make the switch then? If your analysis is correct everyone but the absolute top teams and players in any region should switch to valorant, yet it only happens in NA, what does that tell you? I personally think you're partly right but the other guy has a point as well, it's strange that it's only the NA players switching and especially strange if you hear their salaries which are so inflated it sounds like a joke.
2021-02-05 03:48

Well i think its mostly down to the fact A) NA players demand higher salaries vs actual achievements compared to EU B) NA currently cant compete against the best and doesn't get the huge viewership that EU does C) Domino effect of one org pulling out is catastrophic especially due to the limited size of NA, EU is too diverse to collapse in the same way I also think the players weren't that interested in CS and are pretty much mostly in it for the money, for example Tenz clearly has no hunger for competition, only money.
2021-02-05 13:52
Yo le noob, I want the shit you smoke lmao. Seriously, « stability » and « revenue » in cs??? Is your iq negative or what?? Imagine talking about stability in a game where you can lose a spot in the most relevant tournament of the year after 3 matches (I’ll give to valve that their whole RMR system is a step in the right direction in that’s sense). And revenue??! OMEGALUL .Org owners have been saying they’re losing big money for years now, and that salaries and prize pool sharing are favoring the players way too much for any step towards profitability. For now cs is a « star gallery » investment to drag more people to watch ad like the orgs, and in hope that a sustainable environment will emerge in a few years (that’s what they’re trying to do with franchising but it will obviously take years to achieve anything). All in all if you have no fckn clue about what youre talking, just shut the fuck up.

The fuck are you talking about? Autimatic is a tier 1 player. He has grinded in shitty tier 3 team for a long time now. His team with flusha and sunny fell apart. What would you do in his position? Keep grinding with shitty tier 4 NA teams? He is wasting his talent and career by doing that. You'd make the same move in his shoes so shut the fuck up.

I’d grind to get picked up by a team that needs an awper like cloud9 You can join teams that aren’t tier 4 NA you know If I was in his position I’d practice and stream until I build up a large enough following to just stream, or until I get a new team I wouldn’t make the same move if I was in his shoes because I’m not a greedy asshole, so shut the fuck up

Because it's hilarious that you pretend that there were some good teams autimatic could have joined by for some reason refused to do so. > If I was in his position I’d practice and stream until I build up a large enough following to just stream And what if you dont like streaming and like to compete? Autimatic basically never streamed to begin with. > I wouldn’t make the same move if I was in his shoes because I’m not a greedy asshole, so shut the fuck up Yeah be jobless grinding fucking NA FPL or whatever for shitty amount of viewers instead of joining an organization like T1 to compete at a high level in valorant. If you'd make that choice to stream, you'd be dangerously stupid.

Like teams such as C9, EG, or Extrenum if Kassad wants to replace Gratisfaction If I don’t like streaming and like to compete I’d scrim with pug mixes or stand in for a tier 2 team Also the whole “grinding NA fpl”, I could stay in EU, and streaming isn’t “jobless” because it makes money Waiting more than 1 month to switch to a dogshit game isn’t “brainlessly stupid”, I’m just not a greedy piece of shit
2021-02-04 20:37

What reason do you have to believe that he had tier 1 offers?

You don’t think teams like EG, CoL, FaZe have reached out to him in free agency? He’s a jack of all trades player, I’m sure he was targeted but either A. Didn’t want to play in EU, or B. wasn’t offered a contract that he thought was agreeable. There is no way this guy didn’t have offers, I’m about 98% he just didn’t want to play in EU.

He is wasting his talent by transitioning to Valorant. It requires a lot less mechanical skill and he will start getting destroyed by 14 y/o sweats in no time.

He had two bad choices in front of him. In my view, this is the lesser of the two evils. Autimatic is relatively young still (24) and he could realistically play Valorant on tier 1 level for many years. After C9's major winning lineup fell apart, he has been in a shitty spot ever since and there were no signs his situation would improve.

I don't have faith that washed-up cs pros will be top Valorant players very long.
2021-02-04 20:52
He's already wasted more talent than any NA cs pro in the history of the game. Stuck around in a dead organization for over a year, collecting checks while getting stoned and living for free in their LA gaming house. Trying to play main AWP. He was quite possibly the most complete player/ultimate glue guy in NA cs. Akin to Rambo from the old 1.6 days. He gave it all up to chill. Lost all desire to compete. I can't fathom why Liquid never made an offer to the guy, or if they did, why he turned it down if he had any motivation whatsoever. EG as well for that matter. He is the most disappointing NA CSGO pro of all-time. Absolutely wasted career. Good riddance, can't believe he didn't switch to Valorant with daps/s0m to begin with.
2021-02-04 21:04
He hasn't been tier 1 in years. Hes been really poor and he looks like hes been lazy. Hes just not been good enough.

Nah, US CS is dying because most of it is tier 5. In EU you only see washed up players go to Valorant while those who actually are in tier 1-3 stay in CS. Sad to see Autimatic go, he belonged up top in CS. Guess there is a reason Twistzz had to go to EU to find a team. It was that or VaLULrant.

they've been saying CSGO is dying since 2015-16 lmao in fact it's the highest it has ever been at 1mil peak players every single day. they said overwatch was gonna kill csgo but here we are, overwatch being a dead game and csgo still alive. valorant will be a bigger challenge bc riot is actually competent, but the game will not die out anytime soon

It’s all about the NA egos and paychecks. Wait for the game to die and they will all return. Not saying autimatic has an ego but just generalizing NA pro scene in general. I liked autimatic sad to see him awitch to that bad game. I just don’t know how one can have fun in a game where you can flash people through walls and made it so toddlers have the abilities to smoke anything.

Only reason why it's not totally dead in EU is because Covid is saving the scene. Imagine if LANs was played as usual in 2020.. Having the SAME EU teams playing each other even in those tournies.. Yikes. CSGO extremists in this site should thank Covid-19 that the game is not completely dead.

True, CSGO will die eventually, there's no asian scene, no NA scene, there's only EU. When covid stops and EU realize they are playing by themselfs they will also begin to leave.

No, he's leaving because no team let's him play for them. Or rather no T1 team with which he could try to achieve something. His options were literally playing T2 CS at best, or leaving CS and playing T1 in a different game.

How does a guy who has played CS for the last 7 years switch games and get picked up by a T1 organization? I know the game is somewhat relatable in terms of mechanics but the game, to me, is different enough where someone who has put in so much focus into one game shouldn't be able to just transition over to another game and be on a T1 team. In fact Valorant is just looking like a CS:GO player club where if you had any sort of clout in this community chances are you will get a decent offer from some organization in Valorant. I'm not hating on Auti here.. obviously this is the right move for him currently but it just makes me skeptical at exactly how how the skill ceiling is.
2021-02-04 22:57

I like it more, the different agents make the game unpredictable, the comp can make an underdog team win, the scenes are stacked and we never know 100% who will win against who, unlike CS that everygame is already decided before it even starts. Also I like the agents abilities and the potential they give to make big and skilled plays, mainly by duelists, the matches have only 13 rounds so it's less monotonous.
2021-02-05 00:00
10 replies
basicly the scene is non etablished. let 3 yr olds play football and you also never know who will win.
2021-02-05 10:34
3 replies
Nah, I don't agree. I think the agents are a big part of it, changing compositions gives a moba aspect which makes each game unique. When valorant gets more and more agents and teams become unable to pick the same agent, and the tournaments adds picks and bans it will become even more fun and more complex, it really is just the begining of the scene. But at the begining of CSGO NiP was the best by far and was winning everything.
2021-02-05 14:44
2 replies
In a moba you dont have so much RNG elements, I guess. In a shooter like val you can just headshot someone in a second an kill him, do that 2-3 times and you will win the round.
2021-02-05 16:23
1 reply
You are simplifying the game too much, the same goes for CS then, but think about what you are saying. If a team plays with utility and the other without that makes a huge difference right? The same goes for Valorant, the abilities are the utility you have to chose wisely, because that makes a huge difference, even more in the top tier. A tactical fps is not as simple as shooting and headshoting people, if you play CS or val you gotta know that, in higher tiers it makes even more difference.

NA scene is dead. I don’t think EG/TL will stay in the US this year even if LAN comes back. Americans don’t watch CS anymore, they care just about Valulrant. And the money goes where the audience is. FURIA, Liquid, EG, Cogu’s Project are all going to be playing in EU sooner rather than later

I honestly think 2021 will look way better for NA than it did in 2020: Liquid EG Triumph High Coast Bad News Bears Extra Salt FURIA MIBR GODSENT Cogu's team TeamOne paiN EXTREMUM (not sure if they will live in NA)

The mentality of these NA players lmao, dropping csgo for a cash grab in valorant because they're washed up.

In future u’ll see a lot of EU players switching to Valorant as well, it’s only matter of time (Actually it is here already - GTR, Jamppi, mixwell, scream, very promising nukkye, lowel, xms left csgo)

You literally only listed a waaaaay past his prime GTR, a Valve banned Jamppi and all the others could not find a proper CSGO team in months (or even years), so it's not like they will be missed or something.

don't blame NA Players solely for this you go where the money is if you were good enough to play Professional you would do the same if there was more money like where exactly would Autimatic go ? the NA scene is dead he'd just be in a shit team

Forget what you know. Weve seen too many "amazing csgo players' playing like shit in Valorant or should i say they do not make the difference as they did in CSGO ( check Scream for example ). Valorant is a game that all pro players do the very same stuff equally good.

Oh well .. Better to be in a T1 team in a trash game than have no team or a bad team in CSGO. As long as money coming in who cares . Gl to autimatic and everyone who cant make it in CSGO for whatever reasons.

i mean yea at the end of the day you have to go where the money is it's sad to see Csgo in such a shit state that NA scene is dead and so many memorable players are going to this trash game called Valulrant

valorant is already dead

2021-02-05 04:22
Expected since Valve couldn't give any fucks to Counter Strike. Hmmm, we are loosing space in the competitive scene, what should we do now? Oh yes, ban coaching so the teams perform poorly.

Valve released stickers without a major .. you know that means millions out of thin air for the teams right ? The problem is that salaries of all those T1/T2 players are huge because all of them signed before Covid hit. That means that they still need to get paid what they signed for while the main income was zero for a year. You cant sustain that for too long. Wtf you want Valve to do more ?

I told you. Bot_2k destroyed everything. shroud left coz of him. Then he leaves his team just after winning a major. LMAO After that he jumps straight to brazillian CS. GLORY/FAME WHORE. Makes tarik join in as well. Leaves mibr too. Tarik's CS career was almost over. ( LUCKY that EG gave him chance )

I am not talking about that the team is fluke, i am talking about their PGL Major win because they didn't achieve anything after that. Also Flag checks out so its understandable.

Flags? Am i from KZ or what? xdxdxdxd They won DH before PGL, and was stable top 10 team Also, if they won't force Zeus to leave, they ez can achieve smth :)

Russians always support CIS teams. Also that doesn't still deny the fact that the major run was a fluke. Where are the players now from that roster? Hobbit in Gambit but where are the others? Zeus and Dosia retired mou and Adren playing on tier 3-4.

More like russians hate CIS teams or love only NAVIDAVI NAVIDAVI XD There are many players in CS, who lost all their motivation after winning Major :) Zeus was good after PGL, he has amazing run with NaVi. Dosia and mou no words, out of motivation AdreN contest StarLadder Major and finished at 2nd place losing to strongest team in CS:GO history (ASStralis). Hobbit was shit in Winstrike but good rn :)

autimatic was getting bounced around from team to team in CSGO. I'm glad he's going to at least find some sense of stability with Valorant. He's accomplished all that he could in CSGO, he's a damn major winner, he has nothing else to prove.
